Directed here by Xbox Support, can't play online

Basically a few months ago I re-downloaded my digital version of Halo 5. When I launched the game it gave me an error saying it was unable to authorize my profile with the H5 servers, and then that would be followed up with a profile sync error. My profile would just sit there at level 1 without any of my REQs and I was unable to access matchmaking.

Fast forward to today I tried again, re-downloaded H5 on a NEW Xbox, and even on a different console I’m still getting the same errors. I literally am unable to play a game I paid for and have played with no problems until now since launch.

I got in contact with Xbox Support today, they took me through all the troubleshooting steps and concluded that this was an issue on 343’s side, so that’s why I’m here. Please can this be resolved?

Honestly after MCC and now this, if I can’t get this fixed I’m never giving 343 a single penny ever again. I’ve never had this issue with any other games and it’s amazing that a forum post is my only shot at being able to access a game that I paid for.

  • How is your network configured? (Is this a shared network with lots of devices? Have you tried running the game with no other devices connected? Have you tried different routers?) - What are your Upload/Download speeds? - Who is your Internet Service Provider? - Do you have screenshots or videos of the messages you are seeing?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

  • NAT type is open, and my Xbox is connected via ethernet. There are often a few other devices connected to the router but I’ve tried today without them connected, unsuccessfully. Don’t have another router to try unfortunately but I never have any kind of connection issues on other games.

  • DL speed is 12.73Mbps. UL speed is 0.89Mbps.

  • ISP is Sky.

  • I don’t have screenshots but the error that pops up after pressing start at the title screen is as follows:
    “Attention - Error authorizing user with Halo 5 Guardians services. You will be unable to access online modes.”
