Digital or Physical copy?

I know that this is kind of a preference question, but would you guys suggest buying a digital or physical copy of Halo 5? What will you be buying? What are some pros and cons of each?

Digital copy is probably better. The game is going to be 60 gb, according to Amazon. My understanding of the way Xbone games work is the following: whether you have the digital edition or the disk copy, the entirety of the game is stored digitally and the copy of the game is technically digital. So the breakdown is as follows:

Digital: Takes up 60 GB, can be booted up without disk in the tray. Downloading may take a while, but they let you download a week early and it will not take a week to download. So you will be able to play at midnight of release day.

Disk: Takes up 60 GB. Needs a disk to boot up, but it doesn’t actually use the disk. So the disk serves as a fragile, pointless necessity for playing the game. The download is faster, but you can only do it once you get the disk home, meaning the earliest you may be playing is 1 am, and that is a very generous estimate favoring those who prefer disks.

So obviously, I am in favor of digital.

Yeah digital is definitely the way I’m leaning, and those are some good points

Digital, so i can stay at home instead of picking up/waiting for delivery.

The second its 12 am New Zealand time, i will be playing Halo 5. lol.

‘Halo 5’ will be a big game to install either way, but I’m glad that with the digital version I’ll have plenty of time to download it (since it’s being released a week early) so it’s ready to play at midnight on release day. Also with digital you avoid having to wait in line and stuff on launch night. However, some people like the physical reassurance that comes with owning a disc, as well as the collector’s value, and going to launch events - so really it all depends on what your personal priorities are.

Physical, because:
I want the Limited Edition.
I want to go to the midnight release with my friends.
I want to put it beside Halo 4 in my game case collection.
And finally, I would like the ability to be able to sell the game if I wanted to. Even though I’ve never sold a Halo game before.

If I wasn’t getting it for $45 after tax I would definitely get a digital version. Not having to get up to change the game would almost be worth the extra cost.

It may sound super lazy, but I prefer to be able to switch games straight from my Xbox instead of having to switch discs every time I want to play. The first few games I bought for my Xbox One were all physical but they’re also the games I’ve played the least, whereas I still play many of the digital games I’ve bought because it’s much easier to play them. So digital all the way.

I am an all physical guy.

  1. If my account gets banned or I lose the information I can pop the disk in whenever I make a new account.
  2. I can sell it if I don’t like it or get board with it. It is also a hell of a lot easier to sell an “Xbox with Halo Reach, Halo 5, etc” then it is to sell an Xbox by itself. No way I am giving my account to the people that buy my stuff so I can’t include digital.
  3. Physical can be bought from a greater number of places and is usually easier to find cheaper only a bit after release.
  4. MS saves money by not having to make that physical media but digital games still cost the same for some reason.

Really hoping the LCE code to physical swap will also apply to console bundles

Digital, because I have 2 Xboxes and only need to buy 1 digital copy to be able to play on both at the same time via license sharing.

Yea, all my Xbox one Games are digital… I have about 15 games now (give or take, didn’t actually count)

Digital so it never breaks the damn disc and I don’t have to waste time and money to go pick it up. Also with the downloading full games and potential day 1 updates, it’s not worth waiting hours just to play it. Only reason to go physical now is to pick it up early from a local shop you know days before release

I have all of my Halo games on disk, so logically I want Halo 5 to be on disk too for my collection.
