Digital or disc? How will you buy Halo 5?

I’m thoroughly enjoying digital purchases on Xbox. It forces me to be a little more choosey and on X1 it’s just awesome to switch so quickly between games and apps on the fly. I still like hard copies, but I’m warming to a discless existence. Curious to see how others feel.

Also means no more waiting in lines or dealing with Gamestop, which is just something I don’t care to participate in anymore, in my old gaming age. The Halo 3 midnight was the last I ever enjoyed. After that it’s always just this stressful, disorganized snark-fest where you have to worry about getting robbed (me anyway). So sitting in the comfort of my home and downloading it is a dream come true.

So how will you buy Halo 5?

Reason I ask is that I’m hoping for a digital midnight release and hope will be turned into a big event if the demand for it is made clear.

Seems like most games are made available right away now, which is good. Wolfe stein, for example, came out @3am EST.

Sure the same will happen for Halo, but hopefully they’ll make a big deal out of it.

Disc. No question. Discs should always be an option for gaming. We do still have offline gamers, and people with poor internet connection. You can always lose your digital purchases, and I like to deal with real tangible currency rather than digital purchases. But that’s just me.

I can see how switching games on the fly would be awesome. I don’t actually have a Xbox One yet. I’ll have to get one when Guardians comes out. But I personally think dealing with tangible currency makes me more choosey. And I like standing in lines, and going to pick it up, and driving home with it. It builds to the anticipation. Much more than a download could.

I’ve never had a problem with hard copy releases. And digital is not really my thing…So yeah, its a hard copy for me.

I can dig it. Used to think I’d never go digital, but it’s just a matter of convenience now. And I won’t feel a need to trade it in. But yes, definitely need a means for people to play games without internet or bad connections.

Really depends. If there’s exclusive DLC or some kind of Limited Edition then Disc no question, but if not most likely Digital.

If I buy Halo 5, probably disc. I’d rather not spend ages downloading the game and hard copies don’t really bother me.

Games just keep getting bigger and bigger lately, it’s turned me away from digital copies. I’m even reluctant to use Steam at some points.

Disc because I don’t trust my internet connection.

Plus I don’t get to carry it around and admire it if it’s digital!

While I love not having to get up and switch discs, I do so love special/limited editions of games, with all their glorious extras and those -Yoink!- tin cases.

Oh man I forgot about the cases and limited editions. That might sway me actually, forcing me to get off my but and deal with a retailer. Then again I wound up ripping my Halo 3 legendary head to pieces so…

Well I’m definitely buying a collectors edition if there is one so physical for sure. However I would prefer digital because of instant switching.

Disc! It’s much more special and intimate that way :stuck_out_tongue:

Physical, not only are there interesting PRE order exclusives, venator at best buy.

But you do meet interesting people too lol

Wasn’t dead eye the exclusive helm from best buy?

Dead eye and a special venator paint

Disc form for me.

Also, what’s up with the ‘‘im asexual’’ option in the poll?

For every game I buy, I imagine that one day I’ll pick it from the shelf, give it to my kids and tell them: “go ahead and check how games where back then”. Without physical copy, whole plan is useless.

Physical because I’m usually a sucker for Collector’s editions of games I’m really interested in. Also if there is any kind of check in needed for digital games, it makes it really hard to play them any time you might not have internet. There is also the fact that external hard drives are not yet compatible with the One, and games these days take up quite a bit of space.

Disc. I don’t like digital (unless it is virtual console). I treasure the physical copies. Unless the game is too expensive as a physical copy or to unreliable to get a physical copy, then I will always get a physical.

Disc for these reasons :

  1. I love to have a game collection in my room .

  2. My internet is too slow to download 40GB games .

Disc. I don’t like downloading big famous games. I like to show them of. If it were a small game like Spartan Assault, then I download. Otherwise disc.
