Digital foundrys explanation of H: I graphics etc

Kudos to the channel first and foremost. Made me realize the “issues” and looks Halo Infinite have at the moment at least. And the confusion and bewaffelment…
Its not as much of an " old build " reason as it is a way of lighting method and so on.

Second. Really need an " add link " option when posting, even the known url bracketing dosent work for me

Heres the “links”… copy pasta those…

I’ve learned a thing or two after watching it. But Im not sure ray tracing will be enough after Halo : Infinites release. Im kinda accepting and expecting Xbox One vanilla, S, X will have lesser graphics, its just logical. Though Im sure they could be improved somewhat there as well.

Also another great channel SomeOrdinaryGamers explained some reasons which imo also makes sense of it all. Keywords cross generation and current xbo make devs hold back on future gen.

I agree on gameplay before graphics, but when the graphics is not on par with what should be and to a degree makes a mess of the aesthetic, art style, impressions and immersion aswell. Well then it can surely be called " bad graphics ".

Seriously 343. Look at the folks improving, adjusting lighting and such at Imgur and so on.
Now thats what alot had in mind. And if you are on the road to that kind of graphical fidelity the next months to launch, well no worries then Imho.

Psst, 343 as a side note, not related to my thread. But the A. I at least for Elite Sangheili should be on par wtih Reach A.I In general, make the A. I agressive and as tactical as possible. Were it fits most regardigng which species has which role and so on. I dont mean tactical suicide grunts though.
Annoyingly agile as they were yes, but wouldnt you be when shot at? Get tactical! I love a challenge.

Your thoughts?

I love the DF videos. The graphics are fine imo, but it’s obvious that Series X games are being held back by being cross-gen. Capcom already said that RE8 is next gen only because they couldn’t meet their vision on current gen.

I really hate it when people like Phil Spencer say it’s like PC development and nothing is being held-back. Newsflash, PC games are also held back if they also release on consoles. Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

context matters. Infinite at the end of the day is not like past halos. The game does have great detail and I think ray tracing will fix a lot of lighting complaints people have. However, given infinite in its bones is not a corridor shooter and it realistically is not meant to be a “next gen” game, I think the graphics looks great (even though pop-in is ia major issue). Also, when you compare the graphics to its competition (current shooters like apex, siege, cod warzone etc) I would argue it looks noticeably better in many areas.

Yeah. Like I dont expect Halo Infinite looking as good on Xbox One as folks have improved upon existing footage of what we saw in the demo. But for Xbox S X and PC, solid, improved graphics like what have imagined and seemingly come up with that seems plausibel/ totally doable for 343 and next gen capabilities ( even for XBO to some degree ) IS paramount.

@ Porcin

Indeed. The details ARE there, its the way the lighting and lack of certain graphical features/ effects that makes it all look washed out, plain, plasticy/ toy like.

Also I do take into account that. With such open areas that we most likely will encounter in H: I and the processing power needed might need “sacrifices” in regards to graphics and such. However, I do think next gen and the Slipspace engine can run both big environments, and top notch graphic fidelity at once. Not sure regarding loading time at start of the game and possible when transferring between areas though.

I don’t honestly agree. Graphics, while great, are a cop-out for criticism. I don’t think they are paramount. Realistically, next-gen should be all about performance, not individual detail.

Waypoint makes you reach marine rank before you can post links.

@Porcy

Sure, sure. Im not saying graphics should trumph over any other aspect. Peformance is key and I think the 4k is getting overemphazied, which I htink in this case hurted the showcase.

Performance - > gameplay -> graphics

But if the Xbox series x and pc can handle it all near equal. Well then…

@ Cody

Ah… thanks for the heads up fella!

I really think that options should be standard on console games. Let us choose if we want to play a lower resolution or framerate in exchange for more graphical detail.
