To the Halo Community and to 343I,

The war against Loot Crates has begun. A political organization named Digital Fairness has rose to the challenge to force regulations to label Loot Crates as gambling and force them to be regulated like Casinos. They have grabbed the attention of Hawaii and Manhattan state governments and plan to push further. Loot Crates are predatory to what they call whales. That’s the term they’re calling us gamers’ that fall victim to gambling addictions to loot crates. I have personally seen and read their story and decided to actively join their joint cause, I have signed up at Redacted and I ask that you join or spread the word.

It is not right that RNG systems that are no different than Slot Machine be presented to kid under the age of 18.
This is a real and official movement.
I am aware this post will more than likely get taken down cause this is the last thing 343I wasn’t to see or have on their forums, but we cannot stand down now. THIS IS OFFICIAL.

DISCLAIMER: I am not actually apart of Digital Fairness, I am merely a follower trying to assist them in anyway.

Their Mission Statement

Consumers for Digital Fairness is a movement of concerned citizens dedicated to removing gambling from video games, a medium of entertainment we love. We believe the issue of real-money backed “loot boxes” in video games is a harmful and exploitative practice, which must be resolved through an organized campaign of consumers. This effort can only be successful through the engagement of each level of the video game community, from developers to publishers and consumers. We wish to create a grassroots movement around a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization based in the gaming community. Through this we will work to engage, activate, and inform political leaders and other public servants on the issue of gambling in games to create meaningful policy change addressing the harm these practice do to the consumer.
We are working for a future where all of our favorite games will be sold without predatory random chance systems more at home in a casino rather than a family entertainment platform. We want to see positive and meaningful change in the video game industry, change that doesn’t impose damaging or burdensome regulations, but a refocusing on consumer first, ethical, honest, and fair playing fields.
The consumers of the video gaming community have always been vocal about their distaste at the money-grabbing tactics utilized by a few bad actors in the video game industry. Random chance micro-transactions and based loot boxes that require real-money inputs are designed to separate the player from every possible dollar and have no place in the video game industry. It is time the video game community takes a stand against these bad actors and let them know with one clear and united voice it is time to make Player 1 their #1 concern again.

The battle for the future of honest games is being fought now. It starts with you and your contribution. We are Consumers for Digital Fairness and we ask you to join us in this fight for an honest and fair digital frontier.

Waypoint isn’t the place to recruit for any political cause. Politics are off limits for discussion.
