Hi guys, I’m an old halo player and the last time I have touched an halo game was in 2011.
Now I have decided that I want to come back in halo 3 to play in the summer but I can’t decide if purchase xbox one with master chief collection or an xbox 360 with the original halo 3.
Would you please give me some tips ?
Value-wise, the Xbox One + Master Chief Collection offers greater bang for your $$$ as you’re getting the first 4 mainline games with Halo 3: ODST’s campaign thrown in as a bonus. This is all on a single disc, too.
XB1 will allow you to continue with the games that come after Halo 3 if you so choose, and will be easier to sell/trade than a XB360 if you decide to do so later.
MCC’s campaign is a solid bet in my experience. I can’t speak for online, because I haven’t maintained a Gold account, but you are getting the first 2 games with updated graphics in addition to Halo 3&4 for the price of one game.
On the other side of the coin, you can get an XB360 version of Halo 3 for dirt cheap at a used game store, and XB360s are much less expensive than XB1s, and you can still play up to Halo 4 on it.
If you have trouble deciding, you can flip a coin with XB1 assigned to one side, and XB360 assigned to the other. Whatever result you get, if you feel neutral or better about the result, go with it. If you feel the least bit disappointed, go with the other one. (it’s an easy psychological trick that usually works to figure out how you actually feel about the options when a conclusion is needed).
I’d go with the xbox one and MCC just because you get all the other games as well… and you get an xbox one…
Unless of course you want the “real” feeling of putting in a H3 disc and playing it on the 360, in which case you can do this for like $50 maybe even less.
My used game store sells a 360 for $40 and H3 for $10. I think even gamestop sells cheap 360’s.
I’m only interested in halo 3 multiplayer because I have played the campaign of halo CE, halo 2, halo 3 and halo 3 ODST a hundreds times.
I was initially going to buy an xbox 360 with the original halo 3 to play with my old accout but then i realised that servers might be desert.
So i figure out that there is halo MCC and i was excited about it but then i realised that it is not the original halo 3 because of the customization and the online matchmaking problems and hit detection bugs.
So I’m real confused because there could be in a near future an halo 3 backwards compatibility and if I purshace an xbox 360 I will be joked.
P.s. ( sorry for my bad english but it is not my leanguage)

I’d still go for MCC imo…
The 360 H3 isn’t entirely deserted but compared to MCC, with its different playlists and bigger player base, I’d go for that.
Xbox One for sure. Future proof.
Xbox One.You can play all the Halo games with MCC, with updated graphics, including Halo 2 anniversary, also you can buy Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 to keep your Halo library of games complete.
Like others have said, you’re better off with the Xbox One. You can play H3 multiplayer on MCC even though there can be issues with MCC and you’ll be able to play future Halo games if Halo keeps your interest. H3 on the 360 might not even be that populated so I would check that out as well before you decide.
I would go with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, however it is really full of glitches and bugs. You are getting a better deal with the MCC however the hit detection in Halo 3 is really bad majority of the time so beware. Also you will have fun in BTB as pretty much everyone votes for Halo 3.
You will probably have trouble finding games for halo 3.

The servers are kind of dead for it, yes. Those that are still there are the ultra-devotees, the ones who just will not stop playing.
MCC is the best value for its cost. If you prefer Halo 3’s style of gameplay, the free ODST dlc will easily suit you if you like to do campaign runs too.
343 Has announced halo 3 backwards compatibility, it is coming up soon… now I am going to get a xbox one for sure. Thank you all guys and thank you 343 <3

ODST is $5 last time I checked.

I’d recommend a 360 and Halo 3 if you’re only interested in playing that one game. It’s a fraction the cost of the Xbox One/MCC, and you’ll be playing with all of the Xbox One players who get Halo 3 on backwards compatability, so it won’t be a ghost town.
EDIT: Didn’t see your last reply there. Enjoy the Xbone!
Old generation players are going to rise from the darkness.
Get Xbox one with Halo MCC and wait for OG Halo 3 to be backward compatible

I suggest you buy a Xbox One with Master Chief Collection and just wait for Halo 3 to be backwards compatible.
