It looks like Halo 4 will be a good game for letting players select a certain playing style and making themselves stand out from other Spartans.

My reason for believing this is the perk system. Reach tried to do this with AA’s, but many people found them to be overpowered. I think that 343i’s system will let make more subtle changes to your spartan to affect gameplay, such as jumping a little bit higher or reloading faster.

My theory is that you will be able to use these affects to make the way you play (ex: charging into the fray with an AR v. sitting at a distance with a DMR) more viable. I don’t think 343i’s system will affect specific weapons, just the way you use them.

343i could start players off with a really general ability (like moving 5-10% faster) and allow players to specialize their abilities to fit the style that they play most. I would even bet that you earn these unlocks with medals.

Halo’ (x) = Lim (halo(x-h) - halo(x))/h
;as h -> 0

> Halo’ (x) = Lim (halo(x-h) - halo(x))/h
> ;as h -> 0

Lol, gotta love calculus. I could solve that for you if you defined Halo(x).

Spartans never die! They are just missing in action.

It’s exciting isn’t it?

'Tis!

Balance will be key though. The trade off for different weapons that will be available will need to revolve around the idea of range and power.

Longer range weapons like the DMR will be the least powerful, but be compensated with range. Shorter range weapons should be the most powerful, but are limited by their range. The BR will be somewhere in the middle, probably as powerful as the AR, since the recoil will make it very difficult to use at longer ranges.

Power weapons that will be found on the map will function as they always have. I really think this could pay off big if 343i plays their cards right and lets people really express themselves through their Spartan 4.
