I just returned from a visit to the Metroid wiki forums. Wanna see why I left?
> Oh by the way HALO SUCKS!!! Pointless action, no story line, and it isn’t a matter of finding thir weak point it is a matter of throwing out more ammo than they do.
> The Halo fanboys are just trying to stick with what’s “cool”. They don’t prefer depth because they’re more interested in mindless shooting, and they would never give metroid a chance because it’s not rated M. It’s all basically just a defense mechanism-- they can ensure their adulthood in their minds by rejecting their roots in Nintendo
> I went around to a bunch of different sites lately that have a Samus versues chief and almost every one says samus. So it appears that although halo may have millions more fans they arn’t prepared to defend against the hard core defenders of Samus. So samus wins everywhere. Take that Master Chump!
> I think Halo copied Metroid, but like what microsoft usually does, they tried to sell and make their as fast as they can and they over advertised it and they aimed it to teenage boys so basically
>
> Metroid = Game with well spent time > Halo = Sell Out Game
Anybody besides me get the feeling that these people are just talking out of their -Yoink-? Does anybody else have problems going to a different forum site? At least here, I only have to defend Halo: Reach, but if I go anywhere else, I have to defend the entire franchise.
That’s rough, dude. Kinda heartbreaking since I’m diehard a Metroid fan as well. =\
That’s why I hate fanboys of ANY kind.

WTF?!?!?! I love Metroid (aside from Other M. Almost ANY complaint you could make about Metroid Other M is justified).
Man, I’ve even been to the CoD forums and they at least acknowledge and respect Halo for what it is. This coming from a Metroid site surprises me though.
Wow… Those fanboys need to take a break from the internet for a bit… also, the first quote… I know many of you people are Metroid fans, but too me, Metroid is the one with no storyline… But then again, I’ve never played the game, I’ve watched other play it, but I my self have never played it. But right now, in this post, will be the ONLY TIME I say something like that about a game that I damn well know as a story line. I respect other games, and their fans, even COD’s. But I will point out the problems I see with those fans, like Halo’s fan base tends to be very hateful to it’s self, and others.
Not surprising OP. Can’t really do much in those situations, but then again, I don’t know the circumstances for those comments coming up. Can you link the pages they are on? Appreciated.
As for my opinion, I like Metroid and Samus, what I have an issue on Samus for is her missile usage almost always is a pose + shoot stance. This makes games fun and creative, but it gets old when the I have to think: Pose, 3 seconds, shoot, another second, but it makes it up for the quick reaction possibilities like going into ball mode to avoid damage/creative dodging. either way, I prefer Halo over Metroid…
I’m a massive Metroid fanboy and I used to think this way until I gave Halo a try. I still prefer Metroid over Halo (I love exploration), but I realised I was very wrong about Halo being just another shooter. It’s got a fantastic story with very interesting locations and it’s multi-player is great. Just because Halo and Metroid are both sci-fi doesn’t mean they’re the same thing, Halo is a shooter and Metroid is an adventure (the Prime series can be seen as s FPS, but I think it’s a first person adventure).

Metroid HAS a story line, it’s just convoluted and cheesy. That’s not saying I don’t love Metroid for what it is, but it doesn’t have a very compelling story at all. Most Nintendo games have never really moved past the “sorry, but the princess is in another castle” story depth.
Metroid Prime > Halo Reach

Yeah I feel the same way. When I played Metroid Prime I was like da -Yoink-?
Halo has a REALLY deep universe. It’s a bit misleading and un-professional to say Halo has no story-line.
Thats pretty standard for any Forum. They all have biases towards other systems/games.

Which is why I’m sticking to these forums.
…God I love these forums!

Here you go.
> Metroid Prime > Halo Reach
I never thought of comparing the two, since the games are completely different. If anything, Metroid Prime is more like a Classic Metroid/Zelda hybrid that takes place in a first person perspective, and is far more comparable to Bioshock or Skyrim. Halo: Reach, on the other hand, is one of the few FPS left that don’t require the player to look down the sights, and there are actual different types of enemies that require different strategies and weapons.

> Also, the books and Halo lore itself would like a word about this “no story” thing.

Those comments are just my two cents on these morons.
Fan boys are fan boys. One of the worst was the b.net forums.
> That’s why I hate fanboys of ANY kind.
This exactly. Fanboys annoy me with their immaturity and stupidity so I normally try to avoid them.
That’s why we must keep the waypoint spirit and don’t be like them.
