I don’t play H4 too often, but when I do I never know which map is which when it’s time to vote for the map. For instance:
All map variants of Ravine have the Ravine image, this results in me not knowing which map was called Settler/Simplex/Wanderluster/…
In Halo Reach forgers could take a photo in the forge mode which would be shown in the beginning of the game during the countdown right before the first spawn. You should include such a feature in H5 and let the forger take his own photo so he can use it to have it as the map’s image which would be shown in the vote menu.
Well, to have an image of the map appear before the initial spawn, the forger must place an Initial Loadout Camera wherever they want on the map. Otherwise, the default image of, for example, Ravine will be shown.
As for the default, e.g., Ravine image appearing in the voting menu, it’s always been that way. It would be nice to allow the forger to create his/her own ‘voting menu images’ in the next Halo, but it isn’t needed. 343 has more important things to attend to.
Besides, if you’re having trouble recognizing what map you’re voting for/playing, why don’t you look at the name?

It’s not the name that’s the problem. It’s remembering which name goes with which map. Was that really small symmetrical match Simplex or Settler? A menu camera would be a great and easy feature to add.
Agreed. This is super easy to incorporate and would be a large benefit to forgers who want their maps recognized as well as those who are voting on a map.
