Frank O’Connor promised that Halo 4 would be a game the vets (2 & 3) would enjoy.
Did he keep his promise? Halo 2 & 3 were about flow, movement, being a great shot, attacking and strafing.
But Halo 4 has a lot of problems with flow.
Invisibility kills flow. It’s even more powerful in Halo 4 than in Reach. An invisible player doesn’t show up on radar when crouched. Active camo punishes movement and flow. The player gets cheap-shotted. Promethean vision is a semi-fix, but not for far-away snipers, or those using the Wetwork specialization.
One-shot-kill weapons also kill flow. There are many, many weapons that kill you instantly. These OP weapons punish movement because the player can die in a second by moving too freely. Older Halo games rewarded moving closer during a gun-battle. This game rewards staying at a distance, because you can’t fight/counter some of these weapons up close.
Active camo + one-shot-kill weapons = frustration for active, moving players who want to engage enemies with a gun.
I bought a new Xbox on Frank O’Connor’s words that Halo 4 would make Halo 2 & 3 players happy. There’s no way possible with these two elements in-game. The reason BTB is so popular, IMO, is it’s the one playlist where these two flow-killers are less of a problem. You are far enough away that active camo and one-shot-kill weapons are not as much of an issue.
It has helped me to realize, Halo 4 is not just the next Halo game, but the beginning of entirely different franchise, one that uses props and characters from the last trilogy to pretend to be carrying on the same tradition. If you enjoy the new game, I’m not trolling. It’s Frank O’Connor who trolled some of us.
It’s a shame they didn’t just set these maps to cycle through loadout specifics in order to play a match. Have basically two votes. One for the map and one between a classic loadout or H4 loadout.
I mean we can just pop into our loadout and remove all the AAs and traits and select AR Starts with no AAs. How difficult would that be in order to spawn into the game once it’s started?

343 don’t want to take the chance that we might actually prove we want classic halo
The bald god lied but I saw it coming. I didn’t get LE and since Halo 4 I have encouraged all those who dislike it to not play the game and boycott Halo 5. I made a thread about it and we got 8 pages of support.

Well then you just have to start up Classic Clans and get the mics going and start talking to other players about switching Loadouts to classic play in the lobby and hope a movement takes place.

Seriously…
343 is new in making games, They tried something new and the failed,
But that doesn’t mean that the game sucks right away.
There will be a lot of gameplay updates and the game will be awesome, But it will take sometime.
Like halo 2/3/reach were awesome right in the beginning, The game is just a month out and you are al ready ining about that the game sucks bad -Yoink-.
If you don’t have that patient, Well… that sucks, I wont miss you anyway.

I don’t think you read my post. I never said “the game sucks.” I said, two specific design choices have made Halo 4 a different franchise for an “original trilogy” player like myself. You can decide whether that “sucks” for you or not.
I didn’t say I sold my copy either, or am storming off. Maybe read more closely. I’d like to think an update can solve this, but 343 invested heavily in the style of play it sold me, and I doubt they will change it. It would mean changing a lot of the game.

I played since 1. I’m more vet than anyone who’s been playing since 2. I enjoy the game very much.
Since you probably played since 2, my vet level is higher than yours and I hereby invalidate your arguments.

I don’t understand these responses. Don’t you get it!? Halo 4 can’t get better for us. We wanted halo!

If you’re too young to remember AYBABTU, you’re too young to have any say in what a video game is going to be like. Actually, you’re probably even too young to be playing Halo 4.
