I realized that in when 343 trailered for Halo CEA that they had a different Assault Riffle but with the sound comparisons they had the one that looked like the one out of halo 3.

they were using the reach ones as placeholders
Lol, you just realized that? Anyways, yeah, the original was just a placeholder.
i can tell you why!!!
first of i think its a stupid reason and i like the look of the reach one better, and second, why you wonder? because apparentley the reach AR is the military version, it has a diffrent number, not sure what, anyway the one in halo ce is the naval version!
