Differences between default and MLG Reach

Halo 2 and 3 both had similar movement settings between competitive gaming (MLG) and casual matchmaking, with player speeds set to 110%. Reach MLG is set to 110% while casual Reach is only 100%. Was this done because of the maps, or even the Armor Abilities?

Why is it like this? Will this be the same for Halo 4?

MLG like fast and quick gameplay, it was also 110% in Halo 3, without the AA’s.

It’s just a preference they have.

Actually Halo 3’s MLG movement speed was more like 120. H3’s default was probably 110 on Reach settings, and MLG used 110% movement in that game, probably putting it closer to 120.

(WARNING impending MLG joke coming)Because they want to get to the post game trash talking faster.

It was 110

I think he meant that Halo 3 MLG speed was like Reach 120% speed.

110% movement speed
110% jump height
150% gravity
75% melee
DMR or Needle Rifle loadouts
Sprint is spawned with
Different maps
AAs are pickups

Oh okay. Thanks for clearing that up, I just briefly read it.

Yeah, I probably got it all wrong. But my question is, shouldn’t we have a Halo that has same movement speeds and jump heights for the casual and MLG game?

It’s sort of annoying going from MLG to casual Reach and not having the same strafe and jump effectiveness. I know I have been ultra critical lately, but casual Reach is really just watered down and stripped of skill.

No, it’s not a ‘preference’. The base speed was upped because strafing in Reach is practically useless. It’s an attempt to make Reach more skill based, OP. MLG strives to make gametypes that are the most competitive.
