So I decided to finish up the Achievements for Halo CE Anniversary and after I finished, I thought, “ah, what the heck, let’s try out the multiplayer.” And I have to say, Halo: Reach’s Anniversary maps are so much better than anything in Halo 4, IMO. But that is a different topic.
Is there any difference between the Halo: Reach Anniversary maps and vanilla Halo: Reach multiplayer besides the Magnum’s power? I had heard that 343i removed bloom from the game, but I still could swear I need to pace my shots in order to hit targets.
Well there are three types of Multiplayer in Halo: Reach.
You’ve got Vanilla which is just out of the box Reach, nothing changed in terms of settings.
You’ve got TU which features modified vanilla settings.
Title Update Settings
[/li]- 85% Bloom on all Precision weapons and the Pistol
- Damage taken in Armour Lock will negate from your AA usage (essentially forcing you out of Armour Lock early)
- If you are stuck before entering Armour Lock, you will no longer survive the explosion (this applies for Plasma Launcher shots too)
- Sword Block is disabled on all weapons except another Sword
- Active Camo will run out faster in general
All gametypes using TU settings are marked with “TU” before the name.
Then there is Anniversary settings. These settings were created to obviously mimic a Halo CE feel.
Automatically fired when trigger held down
Weapons fire rate changed
Weapons damage output changed so a three shot kill could occur
- Melee damage is reduced (requiring three melees to kill)
I may have forgot a few, so someone please correct me if I have.
A quick note on 343i removing the bloom, it wasn’t a global change (just like the TU and Anniversary settings), it was gametype controlled.
The MLG playlist is currently the only playlist with pure Zero Bloom gametypes. The MLG playlist also still makes use of Damage Bleedthrough.
There is also one gametype in Super Slayer with Zero Bloom.
It should be noted that Zero Bloom only applies to the precision weapons (DMR, Needle Rifle) and the Magnum. All other weapons still include bloom.
And finally, all Zero Bloom gametypes feature the rest of the TU settings.

Is this lesser bloom reflected in the reticle bloom animation? What I mean by this is does the bloom on the reticles still reflect the possible spread?

> EDIT: Nevermind. I looked it up on YouTube and saw that the reduced bloom is in fact reflected in the reticle animation.
