Well more so in 3v3 random games cause you really cant rush all by your self vz 3 ppl, unless they all have no clue how to play. But its so funny how a 3v3 random game is so unlike a game that would go down when I’m playing with my mates.
Random ppl games:
no rushing
spartans are always made
leaders get stars
no one attacks till late game
ppl will fight 3 1v1s (or 2 1v1s in 2v2 random) this is actually more common in 2v2 random strangely. ppl just dont work as a team
well maybe this is just noobs play, but still its funny. I dont have to try very hard in these games, unless I get screwed with complete newbs.
idk, im bored so I wanted to share the comedy I get from playing these funny random games.

The problem is that most people don’t have friggin’ mics. In a strategy game. Where coordination is key.
I just don’t understand. I try to rush and give my teammates advantages, but it’s really rough. I imagine higher level play in ua threes is a lot better, but it’s hard to get there when you have bad luck.

I haven’t played on any team maps yet. I assume H/Ws is smart about MIC usage and doesn’t default it to “everyone” instead of “teammates”.

You’re joking right? LOL. How could full chat between teams even be a possibility? NO ONE would play the game if it did that.
They should force players to have mics and not be in party chat in order to play. I mean, come on! They do it for the hardcore matches in CoD, it can’t be that difficult. RTS requires 10x the amount of coordination as an FPS, it’s just not fair to the people who’re playing that someone could join and not be able to communicate.
I could also rant about the Trueskill system not working, but that isn’t the system’s fault. It doesn’t work because there aren’t enough people on.
I’m usually in party chat with friends but i do go into game chat at the beginning of each match to check if my allies have headsets, 95% don’t but i have it set to come though both the headset and the t.v speakers and for some unknown reason if i’m in party chat and someone in game chat speaks it’ll come though the t.v speakers which i though was acctually quite nice since some people don’t seem to put their headsets in 'till the 30min mark ¬_¬
It is somewhat difficult to co-ordinate attacks if your allies can’t hear what your saying, although I’ve found that sending a message telling them what units i need them to build sometimes works although you do sometimes get the kind of ally who thinks he should continue building Grizzlys even though 2 of the three enemies have Anti-Tank or the one track minded Anders who can build nothing but Hawx despite the fact the last 5 times he attacked with them they got shot down by wolverines

I’ve played some older games where you had MIC toggles between Teams, hand-made groups that could be in team or out, “Everyone”, etc. You could speak or mute out anyone you want as long as you go through the controls to do so. I consider this level of MIC functionality acceptable.
IIRC one of my older games would remember your last MIC setting and use that even if you started up a new game. So you had to be careful that you were talking to those you wanted to but not others.
Based on my experience asking if HWs has a reasonable system [which I don’t recall it being mentioned in manuals] seems like a reasonable question.
Ignoring the flame … I do believe everyone in team play should have MICs for a console RTS. Otherwise it’s just 3 1vs1s instead of 3v3.

The REAL problem is that people are too stubborn to listen anyway, even with mics. I don’t know how many times I’ve told people repeatedly to stop using only your leader and engineers because they’re going to get slaughtered, only for them to blame me when there leader dies. We kinda have to face it, the bulk of the Halo Wars population are a bunch of IDIOTS (Don’t call me mean, it’d only be insulting if it weren’t true.) Most are just Halo’s shooter fanatics jumping over for the achievement points. where else better than to get this? where the largest matches occur, 3v3. thus, you get people with no concept of strategy, playing a game in hopes of an easy and cheap win, or on the other end of the spectrum, people who think they’re good because they have SOME common sense, and think they’re the greatest players in the world (Only to complain when they get rushed.)
I do know what you mean Irishking, I’ve been stuck at 30 ts for the longest time (largely because I’m too casual to want to play with teams, and 1’s piss me off too easily. The maps kinda feel broken :’( ). the only reason I’m still that low is because of the 75% chance I get stuck with teamates you can’t collaborate at all and each thinking they’re the best ever. Do I care much? not really. But still, it makes me wonder how I could truly get if my matches were actually collaborated.

I didn’t mean to flame. Those games that you’re talking about were just designed very poorly (at least in terms of mic functionality).

Well, the general idiocy of the population is of course also a factor. I’ll admit that I’d much rather have a competent teammate who doesn’t have a mic, than an incompetent one who I’ll have to instruct on basic build orders.
That’s provided they’re even listen to even the most basic of orders. Most team mates are very stubborn -Yoinks!-, and usually assume their ten or so tanks that they took 15 minutes to pump out will win them the game… or it’s YOUR fault why they lost.
> I didn’t mean to flame. Those games that you’re talking about were just designed very poorly (at least in terms of mic functionality).
No big deal. I actually liked mic functionality where you can set groups and things of that nature. I.E. I liked being able to have the control myself instead of being limited by the game.
Devil’s Advocate: You do need to keep it “simple stupid” on a console [esp. a light RTS] so no arguements from me there.
