I have the old Fall of Reach, First strike and Flood which I am about to read, what is the differences between them and the newer versions, am I missing out?
The newer books have some extra content in the back. Truthfully though, you’re better off not getting them. 343 has a knack of constantly re-releasing the same books because they just rush them out. The Fall of Reach has been re-released twice, First Strike and Flood once, the Encyclopedia once, and I hear their Visual Guide is getting re-released.
All because of pointless, avoidable errors.
The originals are far better than the new books.
The new books have about 8% of it in new content and some sentences changed and erased (mostly to retcon and make them fit canon, like changing the aerial vehicle who left the Spartan-IIs in the woods in The Fall of Reach from a Pelican to a Albatross, since it’s impossible to a Pelican to carry so many people).
If you buy it in digital format from day one, it’ll be upgraded automatically so it’s like you have bought the re-re-released version when this come out.

Umm… they’re 99.9% the same.

That’s the problem, they had a perfect chance to ret-con the fall of reach but they didn’t.

But they don’t need to. As I have proven again and again, the book and the game fit perfectly together. People are just too stubborn to realize it.

Can you direct me to a page that explains how the book and game fit together at all, let alone perfectly? All sarcasm aside, I’m serious. I need to read that.
Also, for the first poster in this thread - just read the originals. I have the most recent re-releases and for the Fall of Reach, which has always been my favorite, there are some huge typos regarding the date of the penultimate year in the human-covenant war. Basically, everything pertaining to Sigma Octanus onward is noted as taking place in 2542, when it clearly takes place in 2552 immediately before Reach falls, etc. How you ADD typos that were correct in the original release is beyond me, but Tor books did it.

Only if the dates in the book are changed like your timeline shows but they dont change them thus the re-release is a fail.

Where have you been? There have been huge threads about how the fit.
