In the Halo Infinite Multiplayer Overview video that was released about 2 months ago, these two quotes were said:
“If you can unlock something in the battlepass, we’re not going to let any other player circumvent that by purchasing it out of the storefront.”
“…a lot of our stuff is unlocked through playing the game, and only through playing the game.”
If I’m understanding what they said, then these two quotes were invalidated by the ability to purchase tiers in the battlepass. Also implying that storefront-only cosmetics are a thing (keeping in mind its around 5$ for a color scheme). In a way, it kinda kills the idea of the “no expiration date” cosmetic system, assuming you’ll have to wait for the storefront to change a couple times to get the item you want if they keep the same items in rotation. It also gets rid of the idea of items being gained through actual progression.
Maybe this isn’t as serious as I feel it to be, but every day closer to release I get significantly more worried about the outcome of this game.

I played the tech preview, and yes, you can purchase tiers, but only with credits, which you get by playing the game.
I’m not exactly sure what either of you are saying here…
Hmm. If credits can be bought with real money whenever you want, and you can use the credits to advance tiers of the battle pass, then I see how you mean that you could just buy your way through the battle pass. I hadn’t actually considered that until now, and that would obviously be very problematic.
So their statements earlier were just complete lies then? Nice…
they have a history of allowing people to circumvent unlock paths, this isnt a surprise and be expected to see people wearing end of battle pass gear on launch day. only question is if they will let up buy outr way through event armors like yoroi.

I wouldn’t say that at all. They stated you couldn’t buy the Battle Pass items on the in-game store. They never said you couldn’t buy Battle Pass tiers since it is not the same thing.
As long as the in game earning of credits isn’t an absolute terrible grind, then I’m okay with it.
