I’ve played a lot of Halo 5 and spent a decent amount of money on REQ packs. As a result, I’ve unlocked everything in the game that can be attained from REQ packs (Helioskrill and commendation emblems not included).
I have also unlocked the Nightfall armor and helmet, but they have been bugged and not displaying in my collection even though I can equip them.
I only have about 40k REQ saved up at the moment and I’m not sure I am going to get to 80k by Sunday when the HCS packs go away, so I purchased 2 HCS packs with real money.
The first pack I purchased contained the 5 HCS unlocks, so I have no issue there. The second pack, however, was a complete waste of money. I received the Vanguard emblem, which ended up being the only thing I didn’t already own that I got out of the pack. The second pack also unlocked the Nightfall Armor and Helmet for my “collection”, even though I had already unlocked the armor and helmet by watching the series. The last 2 slots in the pack were 1000 REQ point refund cards, which is a joke considering that you’d need to pay 80k REQ for one of these packs.
I’ve seen streamers such as Roy open these packs today and receive the 343 weapon skins (AR and Magnum). Assuming they are in the pool to be unlocked, I should not be receiving REQ refunds instead of skins that I do not own and I literally just paid real money for.
Why did I not receive the 343 weapon skins out of my pack when there were no other unlocks that it could have given me? Why did 2 of my unlock slots give me armor and a helmet that I already OWNED? If this cannot be resolved, I would like a refund for my pack, seeing as I paid 10 dollars with the expectation of getting the ONLY items I hadn’t unlocked (343 weapon skins) and instead received an emblem that doesn’t even look that great and 2 copies of armor I already had with TWO EMPTY SLOTS filled with essentially 0 REQ that the skins could have been in on top of that.

I’m not glad to know that I’m not the only one, but thank you for chiming in. Honestly, they should block you from buying these packs if there is nothing to be unlocked in them. At least you get REQ cards from Gold packs once you’ve unlocked everything.
Would really like an explanation on why 343 skins are available to some, but not others from these packs.
Yeah it should definitely block you from buying it again if you can’t unlock anything else from it. At least give us back the 80k req points to purchase it? Getting only 5k points for 80k/$10 bucks definitely feels like getting shafted.
EDIT: For the 2nd pack, I purchased that with $10 bucks. I essentially paid $10 bucks for only the Nightfall armor but not the actual series (which I haven’t watched before) so this really sucks.
Seems that folk that are getting these shouldn’t have gotten them, going by a few tweets that Greenskull sent out earlier, I figured that this would probably be the case. If they were supposed to be unlocked, then the skins themselves are marked as legendary / mythic, so the chances of getting them are the absolute rarest. Even if you have everything unlocked, that doesn’t guarantee you’re going to get them. At the end of the day the REQ system is pure RNG and the idea of the HCS packs is purely to support the prize pool for the HCS that kicks off this month.
edit Just caught that you got the Vanguard emblem - if you don’t have the Xbox One console then it’s definitely a glitch that’s happening, as the Vanguard is the console exclusive emblem
If it is a glitch then giving people who bought multiple packs who received nothing from it other than 5k req points should get a refund. If they were supposed to be unlocks then it should give us the skin, because it states that it will give 5 rare or better permanent unlocks (which in my case I still have helioskill/mark 6 gen1/gen 1 scarred to unlock). It didn’t give me either. All I got was a negative 75k req point deficit from purchasing the pack.
I want to know if the 343 skins are gonna disappear when the promo req leave… Or if you will be able to obtain them through opening a bunch of req packs after it ends.

Might be a glitch and you won’t be able to get them. Up to you if you want to risk 80k req points or $10 bucks for a try. I don’t think 343 will give you a refund for either way you purchase them.
Same thing happened to me. I am rank 4 so you can guess how much req points I wasted, gave up after about 400k req and did not come out with the 343 skins…

Is there a source for that info? There were a few people who bought more HCS packs than they would like to admit because they hoped to get those skins. I recall seeing someone on twitter saying they bought 10+ packs but not receiving anything.

What’s the point of an exclusive item for some if everyone gets them? That takes the whole “exclusive” idea away.

The console exclusive emblem, as well as all other retailer and hardware exclusives, can be unlocked via REQ packs by everyone.

Nope, the console exclusive emblem is just that: exclusive to the console. It’s the only item that cannot be unlocked through the REQ system. Anyone that got it, just like the 343 skins, wasn’t supposed to get it. Looks like you’ll get to keep them all if you did though

I think it was a glitch and they were not supposed to be given out, and it was only during a very small time window that everyone who purchased a second pack and had everything already unlocked got them. I got both skins and I am definitely not one of the ‘specific people’.
