Didact vs. timeless one

with chief stuck in the middle

Chief:…Well Yoink!

A powerful Forerunner warrior, a Spartan who only managed to survive because of his luck, ie plot armor, and a borderline transentient god who can control the Flood.

The winner is obvious I think.

> A powerful Forerunner warrior, a Spartan who only managed to survive because of his luck, ie plot armor, and a borderline transentient god who can control the Flood.

“They let me pick. Did I ever tell you that? Choose whichever Spartan I wanted. You know me. I did my research. Watched as you became the soldier we needed you to be. Like the others, you were strong and swift and brave. A natural leader. But you had something they didn’t. Something no one saw but me. Can you guess?..luck”

Yes it’s obvious, Master Chief, as he is the main character

I don’t see why Chief and the Didact would have anything to fight over. So I’m gonna assume they’ll team up. Master Chief + The Didact vs. The Timeless One.
Of course I don’t think that alliance will come right from the start. I believe it’ll be a very fragile alliance at best, seeing as the Didact doesn’t care for humans much.
Just a theory though.

Just like the chief and the arbiter

Thus removing any tension whatsoever from the story because we all know Chief will be the big winner.

Arby n Chief could take these two goons. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, but in all seriousness, the Didact would get destroyed, The Timeless One is just on another level- a 50 foot tall monster with the power to create life vs. a 14 foot Promethean humanoid, not a chance. And when you got a 7 foot human stuck in the middle, he’s just gonna get smashed to pieces.

Yes, but its how it all happens is the real fun of it. Will Chief finally die? Will he just strap 20 stickies to himself and jump into The Timeless One’s mouth? HOW WILL IT HAPPEN?!?!

Seriously though, yeah it does remove a lot of the tension KNOWING Master Chief will win in the end, it’s just how he rolls, but the fun of it is finding out how, seeing what’ll happen and who will die along the journey.

It is all about the journey, but with it being fairly predictable, it’s a bit disappointing. What would be interesting is that the TO can’t be killed, but merely locked up again.

GoVader501, these past two nights, I have REALLY enjoyed talking/debating with you. You are awesome, just saying.

Likewise. It’s refreshing to see someone not merely conform to new canonical information just because the book says so AND sees and understands the issues people bring up.

I hate how you keep saying that he is basically a god. We know almost NOTHING about him. Maybe you should wait until we know more than two paragraphs of vague information about him before you start saying things like that.

I want this game NAO

Which is why I say borderline. Also, the TO survived hundreds of thousands of years in his prison and survived a localized Halo burst on Charum Hakkor, seems pretty godlike in terms of longevity and strength. Then when you consider how perfectly timed the resurgence of the Flood and the Timeless One’s release coincide, gee, I wonder why some people like myself consider he has something to do with the Flood.

1.Life span has nothing to do with God hood.
2.We don’t know if he was actually at Charum Hakkor for the Firing, and if he was the structure he was in probably shielded him from the blast.
3.Why would controlling the Flood make him a god? especially at this point when they are pretty stupid. If the flood were engineered by the Precursors like it is implied then it only makes sense that they would make a way to control them.

Well first of all the Timeless one never had the power to create life but certainly destroy it, Forerunners were the ones that could create, remember the Timeless one is a creation. A 14ft Promethean leader who decimated the ancient humans and sent them back to the stone age, which by the way cut of all communication between the Timeless one and life, and destroyed the flood.

I think that we can say the Didact is a bad–Yoink- and would make a worthy adversary for the Timeless one. And then there’s chief … although we all love the guy I think it’s fair to say that he would most likely by obliterated … well in his current armor anyway maybe if he got hold of some Forerunner tech it would be a different story because all chief knows how to do is fight and he has proved this on various occasions.

The only reason why it survived that Halo blast was because of the casing that the Ancient humans and San Shyum put around it, which was originally made to stop him from telepathically communicating with other living beings because the wealth of information that it would give begins would drive them insane pushing them towards suicide.

343 guilty spark didn’t die, he is pissed off, fires the last halo’s, Poof everybody is dead. The End. Or that is how it is going to happen.
