Didact Should've Been A Boss Battle

Not a quick time event!

Forget about him getting owned by a grenade, imagine an epic final battle. Send waves of Prometheans while he has his shield up, do something to take it down, pump him full of bullets, next stage. It would’ve been a lot more satisfying than that quicktime event which felt extremely rushed… The build up to get to him was awesome, so many possibilities wasted. So 343 says they’re taking suggestions for Halo 5? Really cool boss please.

PS I don’t think they should’ve gave him the power to grab the chief with the force (lol). He could’ve been a really cool villain if his sendoff was better.

I do agree, it was kinda lame.

the ending for didact was terrible, i was hoping for a tartarus style fight

Agreed final boss shouldnt be easier then the enemies you fought all the way through the game.

> the ending for didact was terrible, i was hoping for a tartarus style fight

Yeah, the Didact could’ve been made out even more powerful than Tartarus, so he could be an even bigger bullet sponge :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t worry, you’ll get your wish in Halo 5 or 6.

he could have been a bit more like flying around, removing cover etc, maybe a few watchers shielding him, kill them, back to battle etc, just classic styles of boss fights they could have included into halo 4’s ending

–Spoilers ahead-- I agree, the ending with the Didact was a bit disappointing but also keep in mind that Cortana “dying” was supposed to be a big moment for the end. Also, I see a trend in the game endings I feel that Halo 5 won’t end in a boss battle but likely in a chase scene or another warthog run. This is the trend I’ve seen:

  • Halo CE - Warthog run
  • Halo 2 - Boss battle
  • Halo 3 - Warthog run
  • Halo 4 - Boss battle (cinematic)

Halo 6, I’m very certain it will be a boss battle where you have to once and for all kill the Didact (or somebody else as the Reclaimer trilogy only just started). Don’t know if anybody else would agree.

That trend is a bit of a stretch if you’re excluding ODST and Reach… It could be anything… I hope the flood comes back and theres a flood boss. Oh, and make the flood scary like they were in CE and 2. Pro tip 343: Make it darker, why does HD have to be so light and display everything

Triggers left and right punches, bumpers left and right kicks, that would be AWESOME!

ODST/Reach/Wars weren’t part of the main story centered around the Master Chief, however. That’s just how I see it, though.

I am patiently awaiting the person who comes to blame QTE “boss fights” in CoD for 343i’s inclusion of the QTE sequence with Didact.

But seriously, they probably thought that last battle going around and uploading Cortana was enough of a final fight. I wouldn’t have minded another Tartarus-esque fight though.

I agree. I think an epic fight like the Tartarus one at the end of H2 would have been better than what we got. They could still have finished it off with the cinematic play-along thing after that if they wanted.

Well with him not being dead I’d expect the big boss fight with him will come in Halo 6.

I hate QTE in general.

I would have preferred a boss fight with the Didact. He could have spawned in crawlers or something while Cortana killed him or something…

I don’t know, but the fact the Didact was a QTE just ruined the experience for me.

At least make it a full cutscene if he was going to die without an in-game fight.

Maybe we’ll get a boss fight with some big-shot Elite from the Storm Covenant in Halo 5.

> Don’t worry, you’ll get your wish in Halo 5 or 6.

This.

Nothing said he’s dead people. We saw him get shot 3-4 times with a light rifle in the terminals and take little to no damage from it.

QTEs are nothing but disappointment at your fingertips.

Do a cutscene, or better yet, let us mess the boss up ourselves.

This game could’ve used more boss-like battles. Opportunity wasted.

Sadly, i won’t be getting Halo 5.
