There are MANY good reasons to believe that the Ur-Didact is pulling the strings and has somehow infected Cortana (his surviving digital consciousness that is)

Don’t forget that at the end of Halo Escalation #10 the Master Chief said the Didact was “contained” not dead and the Halo Waypoint Didact profile said that he was composed and where else would his digital surviving consciousness go except to the Domain.

Cortana is both wearing the Didact’s armor if you notice very carefully as her avatar and also has the exact goals regarding the Mantle that the Didact does and also said the EXACT lines near vertabim in Halo 5 Guardians that the Didact said in Halo 4 which we know from playing Halo 4 that Cortana did not hear (she said so herself that she could not hear the Didact’s telepathic commincations to the MAster Chief) and I don’t think that is just a mere coincidence.

The Prometheans don’t forget were ORIGINALLY the Didact’s creations which by the end of Halo 5 Guardians Cortana has sole control over.

Most importantly it is just so inconceivable to me that Cortana would betray humanity like this of her own free will. Given that she was instrumental in stopping Master Chief from firing the original Installation 04 and led him to victory in destroying the ring, given that she was very instrumental in bringing the Human Covenant War to an end (which the UNSC would at that time have SURELY lost and humanity wiped to extinction), given that it was CORTANA HERSELF who had the index to activate the 2nd Halo 04 in Halo 3 to end the Flood threat once and for all, and finally given that she heroically “sacrificed” her life to stop the Didact from killing Master Chief and gave him the window to stop the Didact from annihilating Earth with the Composer, given all these four things don’t you think it would be just unexplainable that Cortana the one who saved the human race over and over again would now betray them and want to rule over them?

I have a logical theory. Warden Eternal is actually the Didact.
I haven’t kept up with non-game information, but from what I can remember in Halo 4 and 5, most of this seems plausible. It’s almost like she’s been infected, but is obviously still functioning. The Flood may not be in this part of the story, but a Promethean infection could still be a type of Flood, maybe?
Frank O Connor already said a long time ago prior to the release of Halo 5 that the Warden Eternal was not the Didact.
also I think the same, I think the didactic manipulates it in a roundabout way , at the end of Halo 4 on didactic seems interested in the power of Cortana , because he knows he does not care humanity when Cortana travel to Slipspace on ship didacta to reach the domain , I do not think I’ve been pure coincidence, the didactic could have destroyed the weak cortana , but instead took her to the domain to destroy mankind would fight against it, and so when it recovers all its power get command and eventually destroy cortana

I wasn’t referring to the Flood specifically, just the whole concept of being infected and controlled by another being. The Flood infect organic beings, while the Didact infects the program that is Cortana.
This is an interesting theory/thought path and has very valid points rooted in the traits of the characters. I like where you’re going with this.
Unrelated, but along similar lines of creative thinking about the events post Halo 4: someone on here wrote an alternate plotline for Halo 5 (well done, by the way) that has the Didact using Cheif’s connection to Cortana and her image to lure Chief into doing his will. A few parallels between the storyline they wrote up and what’s positioned here.
I sure hope that’s the case. I NEED him back in the fold again. He was such a good character and I was hoping him and Chief would develop an amazing rivalry.
