Looking back…it wasn’t worth it.
Mostly because of missing Cross Core customization.
I kinda accidentally ended up equipping only items which were free anyway.
Also, you didn’t get some credits back like every 10th level.
I was running in there kinda naive, since this was my experience with other games, so I didn’t really think twice that it could be any different.
So when Season 2 arrives, I will look way more carefully.
For the most part at $10, it wasn’t a bad buy.
3 months in and I’m at about 4 levels away from completion. Between the challenge system changes, permanent pass, and gracious XP Boost expansion I actually eased up on the completion focus after unlocking the ODST helmet so I wouldn’t exhaust the rewards too fast.
The unlocks were pretty straight forward, the themes could’ve been much better represented and the armor coatings could’ve been diversified a hell of a lot more, but for $10 it was the best bundle available in the store bar none.
I’d say worth it for me, it had some things in it I wanted and am still using now.
Mark VII helmet although I’ll replace this as soon as the Mark V is available on the MkVII core.
Superintendent AI alone was worth it for me, I also use the white AI colour and the flaming head on the Yoroi core. Also the death skull animation on all weapons.
Don’t think I use anything else from it, but I’ve got some fair use out of it. I’ll most likely be getting all future battle passes as over 100 levels there are bound to be a few things I want.
I’d say it’s worth it if you really care about customising your Spartan. It gives you the most cosmetics for your money. Many of them aren’t great but you get quantity.
Also if you care about the weekly ultimate challenge rewards the BP allows you to have 4 challenges live at a time rather than the 3 without so that means you can work through them quicker. You do get some challenge swaps but no where near enough for all the challenges that will be problematic to complete.
In an otherwise free game, 10 bucks for a few handfuls of cosmetics was fine. I’d expect a better offering of content with less emphasis on swaps and boosts in season 2, given they’ve sped up progression quite a bit. I wouldn’t call it great, but its not the dumpster fire people make it out to be.
I’ve wasted more money on dumber things.
A friend of mine bought it, played five multi-player matches, finished the campaign and hasn’t played since. I’d say that wasn’t worth it.
(It’s not like he got fed up with the game and stopped playing - he was never going to play that much online.)
It was worth it this season. But because I wanted the 25 tier skips version, I had to buy 5,600 credits which is about £40. So in order to get the most out of that amount of money, I have to wait for the next season to use up all that currency or blow it all on ho-hum store items. So I’ll see how I feel about the next season, or the one after that.
Honestly if there’s a way I could gift the 2,800 credits I’ve got to my friend who is a F2P player, I would in a heartbeat. I’m not going to be playing this much after hitting Tier 100, only really for them. Even then we’ve got the MCC campaigns to play together.
No problem at all.
Let it tick over pretty much naturally with only a couple of skips and a handful of double XP plays.
Some nice stuff in the there.
It was worth it just to get basic customizations. I use very little from the pass now though.
Saving up microsoft reward points so I don’t have to pay a cent.
It’s absolutely worth it, it’s an extremely large amount of content for a very reasonable price. I haven’t seen any reasonable criticism against it other than no cross core, but the amount of content you get is so large that it doesn’t take away from the great value very much. If you see this and aren’t sure about getting the battle pass, you should 100% get it imo. I was able to create the Spartan I had wanted in the game straight away with the amazing looking pieces from Reach.
Also don’t bother skipping any levels because the game throws massive amounts of XP at you during events such as Fiesta and Tenrai.
I guess it’s worth it? You’d probably be better off buying something else though.
Yeah I purchased it and no I don’t feel it was worth it. I have been building my bing/Microsoft rewards points back up so when season two drops if I choose to get it I won’t have to use my real money.
I thought ten bucks was a pretty fair deal given its a free to play multiplayer. Don’t regret it at all with a bunch of my current customizations (ammo pouch chest plate ODST helmet, shoulder, armor coatings) being cosmetics from the pass.
I’ll willingly toss in ten more bucks for the second season, especially if we start earning credits from it and potentially have it pay for every BP afterwards.
I would’ve bought it if crosscore customization was allowed.
I purchased it off of the assumption and advertising that it would contain ALL the Reach armors. Now I feel manipulated and abused which only adds to my negative outlook on this game and 343. They will not be getting a single penny more from me. Not ever.
It was fine. Not great, not terrible. I played the free version to around level 25 before buying the BP. I wanted to make sure I was having fun in the game before spending on it. Compared to the regular store items the price is great but it of course will depend on individual preferences to say whether the items are worth it to them.
I hit level 100 of the BP shortly before new years (I never bought EXP boosts but you got those quite often in the BP and Game Pass handed some out as well). So it can be completed in a reasonable time (I did the weeklies and dailies and didn’t play much more than that). Drawback being that once you complete it your sense of progression really diminishes unless you start playing ranked.
Honestly I don’t know how to answer. It was worth it only in as far as the free pass is absolute garbage and a borderline insult. It wasn’t worth it because the cost is the core customisation element of the game. Honestly I feel like I shouldn’t have bought it, and I won’t be buying another one.
It’s definitely “worth it,” but IMO it should be worth even more. Hopefully with season 2 there’s more free rewards, more premium rewards, and zero Challenge Swap/XP Boost filler.
