They tested it best they could, but they had to get it out the door closest to Halo 2’s 10th anniversary as they could. A 10 year anniversary only comes once, but they can fix these bugs any time.

You need to understand, this game was a MASSIVE undertaking.
If it was one game usually a public alpha and beta would allow them to see most bugs and monitor server loads and such.
The Master Chief Collection is a MONSTER. Its 5 games including H2A. There is no real way to public beta test this.
Plus no matter how much prep you do until you ACTUALLY have a million people logging on, you never know what’s going to happen.

I really don’t feel it was a deadline issue.

Give it time, I don’t think there is a group of people more worried/ upset (343) that their baby they have worked on for years is broken. They will get it fixed. 343 is not EA, 343 actually cares.

I’m completely sure that people from 343 were expecting issues. No one could know better than them.

I perfectly understand our frustration, but all these issues are always caused by the same reason: market pressure, figures, profit and management. In other words: the actual developers and staff actually creating the product and its associated services are as frustrated as we are. They knew they needed more time and testing. They are working against the clock, with a lot of people throwing all their hate over them. Sure they tested it, and they knew this would happen (I guess that they were not aware of the real magnitude).

But I believe that the actual programmers, artists, etc. behind this Halo masterpiece are not the ones to blame. They are all suffering here with us until the whole thing is fixed. It’s a matter of time and development cycles. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but I honestly believe that blaming the whole 343 company for all these issues is unfair.

Anyway, fair or unfair, the matchmaking thing is completely broken  I have only been able to play two matches, and in the first one the lag was so terrible that I couldn’t see my character moving, resulting in two suicides and a glorious -2 for me. That’s a start!

They did test it.

no they didn’t properly. and to all those defending them please stop being so damn stupid.

It’s pretty bad that these could happen in such a huge franchise.

Agreed.

I wonder what’s up with the terminals.
I’ve been going through the campaign and each terminal has worked flawlessly. Achievements and all were good.

Is it because you guys arn’t in Anniversary when you click the terminal?

just because it works perfectly for you doesn’t mean that’s the case for the whole player base, damn you guys need to stop being so narrow minded/stupid.

Would have just been marketing pressure from MS trying to get the game out to sell the console. Well they sold the console and a lot of copies and its a broken game.

Im not here to hate on them i think the game is great, but from the hours iv spent on it so far the amount of bugs iv seen is incredible. The campaigns are so sketchy in some areas. Pop ins to slow down, crashing, incorrect sounds etc. Matchmaking is well and truely broken.

There really is nowhere to hide for them atm. This game had so much potential and it still does, but it has been rushed and not tested correctly. No one can deny this. Im looking forward to Franky explaining what the hell happened.

I remember watching the docos for Halo 3 and they had a section on testing. The guy said it takes 3 years to fully test a game. They had people from the studio as well as randoms in rooms 24/7 trying to break and crash the game. This is the kind of thing that needs to happen. When millions play a game in so many different ways, strange -Yoink- is going to happen.

Its as if games are going backwards.
