If anyone plays split-screen on a regular basis, and have bought the new map pack, you might have noticed the absolutely terrible frame rate for the map, shatter. I mean, how could that go unnoticed? Do they ever test map performance on split-screen? An average 15 fps is not acceptable, 343.
And you might go and say that REACH had some pretty bad performance, which I agree, but at least Bungie did split-screen right.

Never… I’d kill myself.
i havnt had any problems and i mostly play split screen

Bungie couldn’t even nail Forge with one player, let alone split screen.
Halo split-screen forces the maps objects to render x1 for every extra player on the console, causing frame rate issues.
My advice, just avoid Halo split-screen in general, it flat out sucks.
I WOULD be playing splitscreen but I lost my HDTV and splitscreen on a small cathode is absolutely disastrous online. You can barely see the radar, you scope in awkwardly… and much, much more.
A pity THIS TOO was untested or uncared for.
I play 2 player splitscreen very often. In Halo 3 even 4 player splitscreen felt alright. In Halo 4 some maps got hickups with 2 players, and 4 player splitscreen is unplayable. Especially Complex is bad. I havn’t played Crimson maps, but they all looks like Complex so…
I’m sure 343i knew about this issue, but they could’t do much about it. They already made almost impossible with 7 year old hardware.
Shatter is a complete shitfest with 2 people on the same TV.
Same goes for Complex though.
Also, why don’t people like split screen? I honestly can’t sit and play Halo 4 without someone right next to me because it’s so boring.
I hate playing split-screen on Halo games after Halo 3.
Oh, God, I thought it was just me. For some reason, Shatter and Wreckage are UNBEARABLE, while all the other maps are fine.
Totally. Exact map too. I couldn’t hit the broad side of a mantis while I was split screening on that map. I guess they tried to cram too much pretty stuff for one Xbox to render two sections of the map simultaneously.

No one ever likes split-screen. Sometimes you gotta play nicely with your friends though.
Instead of testing the DLC maps in split-screen mode, 343 decided to use that time bug testing the DLC achievements instead.
In my experience, avoid anything larger than Complex when playing split-screen. It’s quite evident that 343i didn’t think about split-screen too much. It is actually one of the few legitimate problems with the game.
I think the reason why Reach got by just fine was because the graphics were lowered when playing split-screen.
why play split-screen? i mean once in a while i might but on a regular basis? i would rather shell out the extra cash for another xbox halo and gold. split-screen is trash. if you plan on doing great get another system. nothing makes more mad then having player1 player1(1) player1(2) player1(3) all on my team and one gets mad so they all quit leaving my team too lose
Dude,it’s not our fault you have 0 friends. Some people only play games in splitscreen.I can’t play as i used to play with my dad Halo splitscreen almost everyday being one of the reason why i keep playing on the xbox but because of the terrible framerates i can’t do so.It kills me by how much 343 messed up with Halo 4.Terrible terrible terrible.
For you people who keep dogging on splitscren, maybe people have siblings or something? I do, and it’s impossible to play Shatter for real.
At least in Reach it only dropped when there was tons of Forge pieces in view.
