I was just wondering if they did something to the grenades, because i dont remember getting killed by a frag grenade while having full shields. Its kind of frustrating because i can throw grenades at a persons feet and they dont die. But that can throw a grenade 5 feet from me and i die with full shields. Can anyone help me out on this?
Did you have full health?
Everything except for bloom, Armor Lock, Camouflage, Sword Block, bleedthrough (in some cases), and map selection has remained constant since Reach’s release.
Ergo, the grenades have been that bad since day one.
Yep. Surprised my screen doesn’t shake when they blow up…
> the grenades have been that bad since day one.
This.
yes i had full health.
The grenades, along w/ many aspects of Reach, are meant to mimic Halo 1’s b/c this game was Bungie’s swan song and they wanted to return to where the franchise began. The problem is that Halo 1’s gameplay was never meant for today’s online world. Things like mini-nuke grenades, wild vehicle physics, bloom, low jump height, etc. just don’t translate well to the highly-competitive matchmaking environment of today than it did in the friendly LAN matches w/ your couch buddies back then.
These problems are a big reason why Reach didn’t leave as good of an impression as previous titles did b/c it was meant to recreate that casual LAN-style environment that Halo was built on which explains the lack of competitive playlists and ranking system.
> yes i had full health.
A single frag grenade should not have killed you if you had both full shields and full health. It’s possible someone or something else was damaging you at the same time without your being aware of it.
Let’s increase the damage and damage radius of the Grenades while reducing movement speed! Yea that’s awesome, promotes map movement, Weapon variety!!! Halo 4’s grenades better be closer to H3’s than reach’s in terms of damage.
> Yep. Surprised my screen doesn’t shake when they blow up…
My screen does shake… oh wait, that’s the speakers sitting next to the screen…
if the grenade is right under you it will kill you
> if the grenade is right under you it will kill you
Really? Then why do I have to get on top of two frag grenades (one at a time) to suicide?

^this
A single grenade, to a fully shielded and healthy opponent (or you), will take down their shields and about 1/3 of their health. It will NOT kill them.
A grenade perfect at the feet. Will leave you 3red bar or 1red bar of health can’t remember. If you have lost any sort of shield or are regenning you will die.
no, grenades have been that terrible since release date.
*shivers at thought of Reach’s grenades
I know nades have been bad from the start but either I just had a bad night or grenades were given extra damage because I swear … I was never s frustrated with nades as I was on Sunday night. I can’t recall how many lucky spam grenades that weren’t even close to me would kill me even when I had full shields.
I just don’t know, it was way more grenade overkill than usual. I don’t do challenges so I don’t know what they were but perhaps players were using an overkill amount of grenades to complete some challenge perhaps?
so your saying this happens to others too. i just thought i was a grenade magnet.
Grenades have been mini-nukes since the game was released.
Welcome to Reach.
They need to be toned down a little .
And one grenade cant kill you if your full health unless its a sticky then Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh

This is funny because I always thought (ever since the release) about this and found it unlikely unfair… Find it incredibly disturbing…
