Is it just me or did they change the default difficulty for Spartan Ops matchmaking during the midseason? I remember doing episodes 1-5 on Heroic difficulty and I’m just now doing episode 6 and it’s on Legendary. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes, I noticed as well.
Probably because Heroic was too easy and offered less excitement.
On Legendary, players are challenged, which makes it much more fun and interesting.

I played with a friend and he was party leader so I don’t know the default diff, but I read something from 343 saying you could select heroic or legendary for SO MM. Does it really matter?
It’s been on Legendary since Dec. 17th when the Infinity Challenge started. I’m not sure if they intend on keeping it that way since the challenge ended last week before episode 6 came out.

Its been set to Legendary ever since the encore of Episode 1.
They mentioned it in a bulletin, IIRC.
Yes its been around since after episode 5 came out when SO was put back to episode 1.They will not revert it back to heroic because it was simply too easy, even legendary is too easy.
