I’ve seen a glimpse of it being used, and I think Orb expansion isn’t there anymore. Is it even a Pulse grenade or something else? I think it has an instant explosion cluster effect?
It is now called a splinter grenade I think, also it leaves behind like mines after the initial explosion so if you walk into them the explode and kill you.

Do we still have the Pulse grenade, well I guess we wouldn’t need them anymore seeing how mines would be the better trap. I wonder how long this mines last and how visible…

Not sure on that, I am sure it is a replacement for the Pulse grenade however as lets face it that thing was pretty useless, plus if you look at the hud on the spartans the symbol for it is that same as what the pulse grenade was previously so I don’t think we will have both types of grenades. The Splinter grenade does IMO what the pulse grenade should previously have done before to make it a viable option.
If you look up Polygon gameplay on “The Rig,” it shows the particle effects up close.
The grenade seems lot more potent than H4 grenade.
Yeah it looks they changed a little bit. The BR firing sound also sounds different to me, sounds a bit slower.
Its waay better and more usefull than the H4 one

People just used it wrong, I got more Pulse grenade kills then frag kills in Halo 4.
Yes. Look at green skull’s new arena vids, they instantly disintegrate enemies.

It was much better post-patch

I wouldn’t say useless either, because I completed the Commendations for it. It was fun and opened my eyes to how use them correctly. I will be fine without out them though.

NEW MECHANICS - It appears to linger, leaving a bunch of small spark like things and when someone walks near it they detonate and can apparently kill a fully shielded Spartan. This makes it actually useful to block corridors as it does MUCH more damage than in Halo 4 and is also less noticeable and quieter so it can catch players off guard.
HALO 4 GAMEPLAY - The best strategy for Halo 4 though was to take down someone’s shields with a plasma pistol, and then throw a pulse grenade as it would detonate almost instantly on contact unlike the frag and plasma grenades.
It IS now called a Splinter Grenade.

That was epic, and thanks for the confirmation Greenskull.
It seems pretty much every promethean weapon besides maybe the lightrifle and scattershot (haven’t seen the later used) has had a big change in mechanics.

I’ll miss the Pulse Grenade, but the new-and-improved Splinter Grenade seems even better. Pulse Grenade was my first mastered commendation in Halo 4, not lying there, and it looks like I’ll love its cousin even more! I’ve found my new favorite grenade.

One of the complaints I often saw was the Forerunner weapons were either just too generic or reskinned weapons, or weren’t useful to use. Suppressor comes to mind, and while the Pulse Grenade was interesting too few people knew how to use it properly and kept trying to use it as a general purpose frag or something. It shined the most in Dominion, Lockdown, and King of the Hill. How many bases I’ve saved in Lockdown with my beloved Pulse Grenades was astounding <3
Its called a "Splinter Grenade" now, Iv seen a clip of a player walking into it and he just instantly decinecrates.
It`s defiantly better the the Pulse Grenade as it took too long to do any damage and players would already quickly avoid it unless you stared at it.
Here`s the Facebook clip Splinter Grenade

I certainly welcome the changes. More interesting weapons make more interesting enemies. I always found it odd h4’s more ‘creative’ new weapons were handed to the UNSC, in a game with no flood to use them.

I had the most pulse grenade kills in the world according to halo tracker.
i wonder if it’s the same “grenade” except renamed and different function, sort of how the boltshot changed, or if it’s an entirely new thing. From what I see the casing is the same. Multi-function maybe?
