So looking through all the unlockable I was able to count 805 total unlockable with 650 being cosmetic getting two reqs per pack we can calculate the chances of getting a specific item you want 2÷805 it comes out 0.0025 or a quater of a percent chance for a specific item .25%. So any pack you buy you get less than a 1% chance at an item you may really want. I also looked at all the armor unlocks and while the game tells you there 175 helmet and armor unlocks that’s a bit of a lie. You see there are maybe 20 to 30 armor variations with each of those having at least 4 reskins of the same armor. For the aviator helmet I counted 6 reskins. So why bring this up well if looking for any particular armor price or weapon cert your chances are terribly low with the majority pool of the items for you to unlock being emblems and armor reskins. The req system is like this simply to get you to buy packs with cash when the frustration sets in as you open your 5th gold pack in a row only to get a sweet emblem and armor you already got but with some blue on it.

Req Pack is scam by 343i to keep halo fan to play the warzone or any other match making game in Halo 5 and make $$$$ of mircotranaction for anyone wanted to unlock cosmetic faster. I feel your pain of unlocking cosmetic that should be unlock from beginning in Halo 5.

I think the REQ system works just fine, it doesn’t feel like things are so impossible to get i need to spend $ to get it. A scam would be games like candy crush and clash of clans that make it almost impossible to truly progress and get good if you don’t spend money, these micro transactions don’t feel forced upon you. That game Fallout shelter also does micro transactions very well. If you just have a little patience, and don’t mind grinding for the good stuff,(which you shouldn’t since you should have always have to grind a bit in a game to get the best items) you will have everything you want soon enough. besides, your chances of getting something you want increase with each pack you open right? i could be wrong because i suck -Yoink- at math but since there is a finite number of permanent and cosmetic items, you don’t get duplicates, so wouldn’t your chances of getting something good increase with every pack opened?
Your also increasing your chances as you get more items. Your narrowing down to your intended piece.

Exactly.
OP your math is way off, as even unlocking 1 piece increases your odds.
Hint: start out by buying bronze level req packs to unlock common armors, assassinations, stances, visors, loadout weapons, and weapon certifications. Then move on to silver packs. Your stupidity aligns with buying gold packs first. When you buy a gold pack, it is pulling from every category and rarity level so you have a chance to get common items in a gold pack if you immediately purchase a gold pack. Start out small and you will unlock rare items in gold when the time comes. An easy way to check when you should move up to buying the next tier is to look here on waypoint because the site keeps track of your unlocks. It also shows the rarity level of all items, even ones you have not unlocked, which is not shown on the console. Don’t expect to get good items from a gold pack if you a chance to get literally every item in the -Yoinking!- game.
I really don’t see the problem with REQ-packs and buying them. A lot of people aren’t buying them and the people who are buying them are giving us free DLC.

And why the -Yoink- would you have the items at the beginning of the game? Cosmetic items have always had achievement, commendation, or rank related unlock requirements. However, halo reach had it’s credit system. I have no idea where you are getting the idea that all items have been unlocked from the start. Enjoy the game for the gameplay and actually put effort in to unlocking the armor you want.
If you don’t like the REQ system then go back to arena
