Did the Matchmaking logic change?

Serious question - I am ALWAYS complaining that someone of my skill level (k/d = .7-.8 and CSR 7-17) should not be running into k/d 2.5-3.0 CSR 35+ EVER, and then yesterday, I kept getting dropped into competitive matches.

I won 3 games of Regicide, with most being nail-biters. Usually there is someone with 300 points completely dominating and the rest of us trying to hide/beating up on each other, and end up with way less than 200 points - a clear skill gap.

Same in Heavies - not one of the games had that classic “one player gets 30-50% of the kills” feel. Everyone seemed to be pretty similar in skill, and the final totals seem to bear that out.

Even multi-team seemed good.

Was it just luck, or did something change?

I think because of the extremely low population in halo 4 you get put with anyone the game can find, not necessarily someone of similar ability

The low population of Rumble Pit compared to the other playlists you mentioned will have a factor in the matchmaking.

I believe the True Skill system takes all your games into account when matching you up with players. Those nail biters you mentioned are probably due to both factors, that and also that they don’t want you sitting and searching for too long so at some point it will just throw you in with someone.

So no, I don’t think the philosophy has changed. You had a couple of good games and a couple of bad games. Pretty much par for the course.

I must not have explained it very well. It is usually terrible. I get put with people too good because the population is too low. Suddenly yesterday all day I got people my (meager) skill level…

Okay, well I still don’t think the matchmaking has changed. I could be wrong though. If there has been a change it would have been announced in a bulletin, and there would be serious talk about it on the forums.

I think you just had a good Halo 4 day.

I should have just shut up and enjoyed it. Spent most of yesterday getting trucked in Heavies. Most of the times, we barely got started…

You know it is bad when the WINNERS drop because they don’t want to play you again…
