The internet has not made gamers more entitled, it made Developers more predatory. They know they can hold items, modes, cosmetics, etc. back and either make people pay a premium for them, or keep dangling them on a string in hopes to keep people playing their game.
It’s a BS tactic that works incredibly well and unfortunately will not be going anywhere anytime soon. I see people saying, "if they just lowered the prices… ". They don’t need to because for every 1-2 people who say I won’t buy anything there is a person out there who will and that’s enough. If they lower the prices, they are now dependent on even more people buying in, where as now, they don’t have to.
And…for all of the people who say they are mad and won’t buy anything, a certain percentage of them will crack and buy something anyway.
Developers used to have to make a product that was enticing and complete for their consumers, now they charge you full price for an unfinished product and tell the comsumer that it is a “live” game and will forever be changing, so is it ever really finished anyway…
Development costs have definitely gone up, so the idea of trying to offset that through micro transactions isn’t predatory, but the prices and rules that they get to set are.
So no, gamers are not more entitled now, some can just see where things have gotten out of hand and are willing to speak up about it.

I can agree whole heartedly with your post. Wished the community could be a bit more empathetic. But alas I ask too much.
how do you navigate co-op with no replayable missions and an open world concept. what if players arent at the same point in their stories? do you just only play that save file when your buddies around? kind of isnt really streamlined without replayable missions
Thanks for the ted talk then I suppose
Well they said it’s coming so it’s not impossible. Point is. It should be there at launch

“Game devs aren’t lazy!”
I typically agree, but is reselling the free Cadet Blue coating renamed as Lucky Blue for the Yoroi core at $8 not lazy?

Maybe it has. But Halo has had these kind of complaints since bungie.net had Halo forums since Halo 2.
I hope it isn’t Microsoft, but I doubt it isn’t.
Either way, I just hope it gets resolved in a way that benefits players, 343 and Microsoft.
- Custom games don’t always save or load properly.
- Bots don’t always appear in custom games, or sometimes there are less bots than there should be.
- I get shot at behind walls and sometimes do the same to other players.
- Actions done right before I die often have no effect.
- Stun doesn’t work consistently in campaign.
- Menus won’t load.
- Servers disconnect.
I think there was actually an article talking about how the development was rushed and had issues with scope creep.
AI allies are somewhat helpful, but they also get in the way and run out in areas without cover.
They might make sense for very unique models (e.g. Elites), but right now, they’re being used in a way that’s just limiting.
I’m okay with it because of the development problems.
Keep players within a certain distance of the hosting player, or teleport them to that player when certain events happen.
Also, missions should have been replayable.
As for players not being at the same point in their campaign, they could require them to complete the missions before that point.
If you mean that there will be disparity if you play without your friends, they could make it so that co-op progress is separate from solo progress.

That is more publisher greed which I hope MS Course corrects. Even for a f2p game they are gonna kill Halo with prices like these… and practices like these should be called out!.

It’s just progression bro.
When you get a new game in a series you expect it to expand from the previous game. Not remove features.
This is universal. Musicians get panned for releasing a poor follow up to their last album all the time.
If consumers are expected to blindly spent their money on a product they do want it to be better than the last one. I know this point only applies to campaign but, you get the point.

A lot of what you’ve experienced I’ve ran across occasionally, I’ve had a few hard crashes that locked up the Series X and caused a restart. In both MP n Campaign nothing excessive tho. The being shot behind walls has been annoying…
They touted lower latency so the games feel more responsive and but I feel like either my controller hates me or this is marketing speech.
Halo’s A.I. for the UNSC feels at times aggressive and also useless, given that you’re the Master Chief aka the super solider makes some sense… you don’t need them killing for you but you also want them to be useful in a firefight…

I can support that wholeheartedly, I know it will be better and features requested and promised will be their

I remember when Halo 2 went live on Xbox. Some of these gamers just seem uncompromising in the zealotry… it’s like they want 343i to fail so they can point fingers, instead of providing useful criticism that the devs and teams can look at and hopefully address later on…
The internet made everyone entitled. It’s awful.
Went from “R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me” and “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” to what we have today. Catering to the weak minded and weak willed.
Hard times breed strong men, Strong men bring easy times, easy times breed weak men, weak men bring hard times.
We’re at the 3rd step in that cycle right now.
I hate this thread every time it appears - the title is a question without a question mark and it irritates me.

The game’s biggest issues quite clearly revolve around corporate greed. The gameplay might be the best in the entire Halo series, but how it has been delivered, particularly the monetization is pretty disgraceful. Nothing to do with gamers being entitled, I dont see any criticisms of the game that aren’t valid.

eh sorry but after numerous other devs and their bad decisions and manipulation I dont think 343/microsoft deserves even an inch of slack.
Stop feeling bad for these people.
This is NOT their “baby” this is a “product”
it is a product.

Climb off your horse friend, go make something and let millions have access to it so they can tear it down, criticize it unfairly and fairly in some aspects n see how you feel/react.
It’s not hard to understand empathy! Try it…
