Did the Assembly Join Cortana?

I wonder if the Assembly joined Cortana and Her Created. What do you think they have been doing since the events of Halo 5? If anyone is confused, the Assembly is a coalition of AI’s whose purpose is to protect Humanity from the shadows.

They’ve soft retconned the Assembly, I believe. There’s nothing official saying so, but one of the official 343i lore posters dropped in at some point and said something along the lines of “the evidence of an Assembly in the Reach datapads is circumstantial and unreliable”. It’s not an official retcon, but the closest we’ll probably get to an admission that they’ve been excised from canon.

If that’s true, that sucks. I personally really liked the Assembly and their whole story. Shame that 343i threw them under the rug.

They more or less want to get rid of everything introduced by Bungie, so it doesn’t really surprise me. That’s why the entire universe underwent such a radical redesign in Halo 4, why they tried to retcon the events set in the past to have the same art style, etc etc. They’ve begrudgingly accepted that they dropped the ball with Halo 5, which is why we’re seeing such an about face in art style and direction with Infinite.
