Did He Confirm 16 Population?

Interview

He talks about 2 player splitscreen online and 16 total for game matches. It looks like we won’t get something like 24 which in my opinion sucks :frowning:

I was hoping for a higher population cause I do feel Halo would be great with bigger battles if we got better servers to prevent the lag and the horrid blackscreen. I know I would get flamed by the people who call them Halo “vets” but if you don’t want to play with that high of population than you do not have too. However, do not flame me either about being a Halo noob because I’ve played since Halo CE but did not get LIVE until H3.

Let’s see, Halo had 16 players since Halo CE back in 2001. Battlefield had 24 players since about 2008 or something. More than 10 years later, Halo still has 16 players. Shame…

Its probably due to console limitations. If your expecting anything ground breaking then it will happen when the next gen console comes out.

Thank God, then.

There’s no point to having anymore than that anyway. What map in the Halo series (maybe except some on PC, like Infinity, Ice Fields or Dead Island) was actually THAT BIG for there to warrant the need for more than 16 players? It’s a redundant suggestion. It’s been that way since Halo CE and it shouldn’t change.

Battlefield has more players because all of the maps are big enough to accommodate them.

or i could be tradition, Halo has always had a 16 player limit…why change it now?

Consoles doesnt allow more players unless you want to play with 24 players in COD maps…

Don’t want 24 players. 16 is fine for me.

More players doesn’t mean better.

Why they don’t do higher? Console limitations could be a factor, lack of dedicated servers could be a factor, game design could be a factor.

> or i could be tradition, Halo has always had a 16 player limit…why change it now?

Halo has never had ‘loadouts’ or gameplay changing abilities but they’re adding those in anyway.

Just sayin’. That isn’t a real excuse. I would imagine it’s got to do with the P2P system Halo has been using for the last 7 years.

And they’re also keeping things.

Could you imagine 24 with a mexicant host, probably kept at 16 to minimize lag.

Irrelevant.

Halo is fine with a sixteen player maximum, the sweet spot for Halo has always been 4v4 and doubling that, though fun, pushes it a bit and is generally chaotic (although that is why I love BTB).

I did use to have an itch for larger scale combat but 32 player Section 8: Prejudice scratched that. If you got the itch, scratch it with some CoD/BF/other game and don’t worry about Halo being more compact, condensed, focused and whatever other words I could use to describe it as small in a good way.

So we didn’t get increased player cap, big whoop. Waiting on Halo 5 and new xbox.

16 is fine… until we have a 50 vs 50 CTF battle on Death Island… with Pelicans dropping in troops… and player-operated Scarabs… then I support the 100-limit player count… wait, what!? o_O

This has been confirmed since the game was announced almost a year ago. But still, Halo doesn’t need more than 16 players anyway, it works fine the way it is.

that would be awesome

No. It’s very relevant.

You said they added new things, implying that they could have changed the player count. I say they’re also keeping things from older games, implying that the 16 player limit has been kept.

If there were Scarabs on Death Island I think everyone who didn’t have a vehicle would be hiding in caves.

The hardware couldn’t support 24 players.
