I never use to have problems with the MCC. I know game had notoriety over the matchmaking but I only ever did solo campaign and online co-op and everything worked fine for me and my friends. Over last 6 months since updates to Halo MCC on PC started rolling out have I had problems with my XB1 versions stability for Halo 2 and Halo 3. Now it is so bad I can’t even finish levels with friends before it crashes, or if I can the performance will be awful for whoever isn’t hosting, and if we manage to make it through the level it is now off and on not even giving some of us credit for having completed it.
It’s hard to pinpoint what could be wrong. Yes the MCC on PC rolled out Halo 2 and 3 around this window, but the pandemic happened too, worth volunteering that since everyone being at home working or streaming Netflix has caused our ISP to be pushed beyond their capability, so, could be a factor.
But I also think it could be possible changes that might have come to the console version of MCC maybe to provide for a degree of cross platform functionality might have created issues that were never there. I also should note I am now running off an XB1X, my friend an XB1S, in case difference in hardware could be causing issues.
Anyhow, not sure if I should create new thread for this or add it here. So, basically because as I mentioned before our local ISP nodes are overloaded. Even though my friend lives maybe 4 miles away we have some of the worst peer-to-peer connectivity imaginable. Dedicated servers can seem to manage our crap internet fine, seem okay to reconcile the packet loss. We do okay playing Halo 5 Warzone Firefight or Division 2 or whatever we can that has a dedicated server. One of our other friends was on the Game Pass Ultimate streaming Beta and since the MCC co-op problems seemed partially because of our local ISP, and packet loss making hosting problematic, I suggested to our other friend he see if he could host the game from the Game Pass Ultimate streaming which I imagine might work like a dedicated server, and it worked, game ran smooth on all our ends… until it crashed (in 3 player Halo 3 co-op BTW). Now, I know Game Pass Ultimate Beta is just a beta, but worth noting, game performed fine and exceptional up until the moment it eventually crashed, I think something isn’t quite right with this game.
