I know that everyone seems to prefer Reach’s forge over 4’s. If it’s because of the maps that H4 launched with, each of them leaving to desire compared with forge world, I get it. But with forge island it became as good IMO. The magnets were kinda annoying sometimes but meh. Is there something else that you despised about 4’s forge aside from inferior release maps and the removal of the nudget?
Back then in 2012, I just remember Forge feeling… off. Something about it just couldn’t match Reach’s legacy. It felt boring, and to me, somehow a bit more lonely. Looking back now as a 20 year old man, I figure the reason Forge suffered was because they were trying to convert Halo into what was then making big bucks at the time (still is), CoD. Just messed with the whole flow of the game and imo was the guillotine that murdered the series. Thank god for MCC tho!
You can’t disable sprint, so that really limits how you can design maps as you’re stuck with the same limitations as 343 Industries. You could build pretty much whatever you wanted in Halo: Reach without issue, but attempting that in Halo 4 leads to horrible results (see Guardian on Halo Online for an example of this).
I think another reason besides the maps that kind of killed forge for H4 was that shortly after launch a lot of the player base left. There just wasn’t that huge community that was there for the previous games.
