did everyone just forget about the didact?

There have been many campaign threads out there asking many things. Here are the popular questions:
What role will the arbiter play?
Who is on Locke’s team?
How does blue team tie in?
What is the bird thing?
Does Locke kill chief?
What planet or location?
Will Lasky side with chief even though ONI is hunting him?
How does Halsey and Jul fit in?
Etc.

SPOILER ALERT BELOW**

So those are the popular questions. What I’m most curious about is the Didact. What is his role gonna be? We know for sure he does have an appearance in halo 5 guardians. I think Frankie confirmed this a while ago. Last time we saw the Didact he was incinerated by several composers after chief separated the control room of installation 03 off the ring. Will the Didact be a super promethean? Will he be more powerful? How big is his role gonna be?

Tell me what you think. Thanks

Uhhh… he died again in Halo Escalation… and we think for good… Like 99% good.

^People think he’s dead, even though he isn’t. Just composed.

He didn’t die via being composed… He died cause he was flung into a sun along with a fragment of a Halo ring that John left him on, letting him die in a sun.

Halo Waypoint Universe Section > Characters > Page 2 > Didact > Escalation

Here’s how it reads:

After his battle with the Master Chief during the New Phoenix Incident, the Didact fell into a slipspace rift generated by his flagship, Mantle’s Approach, was transported Installation 03 (Gamma Halo). Shortly after his arrival on the ring, he encountered Spartan Black Team, who was conducting classified reconnaissance operations on the Halo. Caught unprepared, the team was no match for the Didact, and all four Spartans were killed in the engagement. Soon after, the Didact was approached by 859 Static Carillon, monitor of the Composer’s Forge. 859 had come to Installation 03 to investigate the activation of a service portal connecting the Halo to the Composer’s Forge. Eventually, the Didact bargained with the monitor to gain access to the Composer’s Forge so that he might assemble the Composers held there to strike back against humanity. Once again, the Didact was stopped by the Master Chief. However, this time the Master Chief found himself reunited with his fellow members of Blue Team, Spartan-II’s Fred-104, Kelly-087, and Linda-058. Though their battle with the Didact was perilous and proved nearly fatal, the Spartans were able to band together, and with the help of 859 Static Carillion they tricked the Didact into using the Composers on himself. Effectively turned into a digital essence, the Office of Naval Intelligence currently considers the Didact “contained”, though it remains to be seen if his threat to humanity is truly at an end.

[Now I’m confused

EDIT: Alright, Chief says contained, fair enough.

The comic itself made a poor job explaining exactly what happened. It’s still unclear how they “tricked” The Didact to unwillingly use Composers on himself.

All I know is that the writer said he’s not dead. But that whole ending was just weird.

It’s confirmed he isn’t dead. I’m pretty sure chief said contained to hood at the end of the issue

Maybe they ran out of pages so they didn’t have enough space to properly explain stuff. I hope.

It was not explained well. Hopefully it is explained a little more in the game. Maybe the prologue?

I was under the Impression all the original spartans died…

The ur didact was composed into digital form storing his essence after john 117 helped the moniter eject a large section of the ring containing the Control Room toward the Composer’s Forge. So in a sence hes like the Librarian stuck the digital. So if we do see him i dont see him being the main focus of h5 like in h4. Still sure he has a part to play hes a didact after all. Still im sure we’re see other more interesting didact stories unfold in halo 5 that are not involving ur didact,

Brian Reed happened.

Wouldn’t be so worried for the story in Halo 5 if it wasn’t for those issues in Halo Escalation and Spartan Ops, which were pretty underwhelming in my opinion.

Who?

Lol no. And they never die…

I wonder if the Didact is going to be behind the imminent threat of what’s coming.

You know often there is a good wizard and a bad wizard that have to end up cancelling each other out rather than there being a true winner???

I believe the Didact and Cortana are those “wizards.” :)… Not Cortana the Blue, Cortana the White

EDIT: Alright, Chief says contained, fair enough.

Don’t rely on halo follower for lore info. you’d be better off watching Halo Canons videos.

Here’s what I think: the Didact is still “alive”, as in his composed essence. He’s not dead yet because he may enter into the Halo universe again. But I think he’s out of the picture for a while. I don’t think we’d have to fight against the Didact again after we already “defeated” him last game.
