Don’t get me wrong, the single and multi-layer are both fantastic. But in the campaign it felt that the main antagonist Didact) and his pets were introduced too early, so was the interaction with the Librarian. What do you all think.
I’d have to disagree. I felt like the Campaign went at a decent pace… except for one thing. The Didact should have been introduced on the fourth level, AFTER the Infinity crashes. That’s just my opinion, though.
The pacing in Halo4 was better then Halo3 and Halo:Reach.
I disagree also. Halo is now as any major franchise… it’s a big expanded universe, so with books, comics, machinama, and games abound, the Devs can take some frivolity with the story and assume most people don’t need a back story. At the very least those who feel it was rushed or didn’t make sense have tons of info to dive into to find out more. I think it’s really well done in considering in today’s age, a lot of FPSers will rush through as fast as they can and not stop to dive into the story much anyhow, nor do some of them care.
I have to admit, it was a bit short. But the pacing felt perfect. The Didact was so epic how they introduced him. And I never guessed the Librarian would be the one running the sentinels.
I thought something was up, but when Cortana was captured I was like: “Guess I was wrong.” And then when I met librarian, I could tell she was thinking: “WRONG AGAIN HUMAN!!! MUAHAHA!!!”
I also think Spartan Ops is fun, but it should spawn more enemies per player so that it doesn’t become too easy with 4 ppl on legendary. Plus, the 30 min solo (or something) Spartan Ops game time average feels a little short, maybe add 15 more minutes average. At least that would make it feel more fun.
I agree with those above me.
I will say that I really would have liked for it to be longer, but the pacing of what they did have felt really good.
Rushed might not be the right word. The campaign was VERY short, I finished it in 6 hours on heroic. To me, that is unacceptable. Halo 4 felt way too easy as well, I really had no parts that were overly difficult to me. Also, there really wasn’t anything that is memorable to be, like there were in the previous Halo games.
It had amazing graphics, game play, and story telling, but it did seem a little short. But, it was at a length where i didn’t get bored after playing for a while, so i wasn’t just playing to get it over with. I had fun every step of the way, maybe because it was so great. Hopefully the next Halo will be a little bit longer, considering i beat the campaign in 4 1/2 hours.

Multiplayer is insane fun.
Campaign has way too many issues with it. Story narrative made no sense to me (I do not read the novels or comics) and I was lost most of the campaign. Ummm who is this bad guy? And just how the heck does everyone in the game know him but me (the player).
One good thing is the “Bungie Backtrack” levels are gone.
I grew sooooooo tired of going from Point A all the way to Point B and Cortanna would make up some reason to go all the waaaaaaaaay back from Point B to Point A.
Very. Annyoning. Very. Dull.
343i changed that thank goodness and improved the graphics by a zillion. Amazing stuff to watch.

- Play Legendary, then come back and talk about it being easy.
- Halo 4 was designed to be the 1st part of the Reclaimer trilogy, so there won’t be as many memorable moments in Halo 4. Halo 6 should be the most memorable, in terms of campaign.
To be honest there were no real stand out moments for me. Every mission felt exactly the same. I wish there had been an enemy similar to the flood that made you have to change the way you played in order to succeed. In this game everything could easily be dispatched of with a light rifle and suppressor. The CQB gameplay just wasn’t there.
Also the fact it only took me 4.5 hours at a relatively slow pace to get through was disappointing.
I know this is only the first in the new trilogy but it still felt underwhelming.
Yeah, I do. It just felt like things were happening too quickly. It was still great though.

If the campaign on legendary is more of how the first mission in Spartan Ops, then it won’t be that difficult still.
- Halo: CE was the first game and it had memorable moments. Halo 4 really had NO memorable moments.
I agree. It felt as if they were trying to cram all the plot elements into the smallest possible timeframe. I mean, you barely get to know the new characters that are introduced and the whole Spartan IV thing is little more than a footnote. It would’ve been better if they added a few more missions including the Infinity and giving the Chief a chance to interact with Lasky, Del-Rio, Palmer and the IVs. As it is, the whole campaign seemed almost fleeting to me.
First of all if you are one of the few who haven’t completed campaign for some reason please do NOT read any further, SPOILERS.
Yes I do believe it was rushed considering that the Storm were not explained, the Didact and his motives were not explained, the librarian was not fully explained and how cortana saved chief was not properly explained. Before people tell me terminals and books explain certain things the game SHOULD explain things properly without depending on the expanded universe which is what 343 Industries were saying months before launch. Time and time again they said we wouldn’t have to read the books to understand characters and what is going on but this is a complete and blatant lie. Nothing is explained in the game at all, to anyone who has not played the previous Halo games or read any of the books they probably had a hard time understanding a lot of the game. This should not be happening. Also we shouldn’t have to rely on the terminals to have things explained, especially since they’re not actually in the game and you have to go to waypoint to view them.
Apparent “main” characters were rushed into the game too, Lasky had such a fuss made over him in Forward Into Dawn and he was barely even in the game! The same goes for Palmer which you only see briefly. So far the game now lacks other main characters because 343 just didn’t develop other characters efficiently. This is probably because the campaign was so rushed and they had to fit so much in such a short campaign, I mean completing a game in like 5 hours is quite disappointing. Lastly the pacing was way too fast, one minute chief had just landed then the Didact was free, snatched the Compose and was at Earth. I mean, come on. Slow down a bit, this particular story could have spanned over 2 games easily (not that I’m saying it should of). Anyway thats my 2 cents worth.
I’d compare it to messy BBQ pulled-pork sandwich. Lots of good in it, but the structure is off, ie the sandwich can’t keep all the pork inside and from spilling out and making a mess.
I felt they tried to throw in as many book references as they could, but the game’s story structure couldn’t keep them all coherent. The Terminals are a big offender in particular.
