Did 343 tell Truth and Mercy the truth?

When Thel visits Truth and Mercy before being sent to Installation 05, it’s shown that they’ve questioned Guilty Spark and got knowledge of the Index. Now this may just be me, but if the Prophets were questioning an oracle to their gods, they’d probably learn from Spark that the Halos aren’t what they thought. This must’ve made the two Prophets learn even more that the Great Journey is misinformed (like they had decades ago when they encountered Mendicant Bias). Why wouldn’t they ask as much as they could and learn from an Oracle? I think that Truth and Mercy then planned on fleeing to Earth, assuming it’s further than 25,000 lightyears from Installation 05 and then reach the Lesser Ark (which Truth learned from Regret), activate the Array, and rule over the remnants of civilization as gods. Does this sound like a plausible idea?

And Regret up to his death wasn’t in on this information so when the Gravemind had him, he still believed in the Great Journey.

There are two theories

Focusing on truth as he was the only one that seem to have a clue. He was either insane religious devout that believed the rings where the only way to meet his gods. Or he was very aware and knew that the ark would shield him and he could rule those who survived unchallenged as a god. The later has a strong possibility due to mendicant bias and lines said to Johnson on the ark, As to the details learned from 343GS, the existent of his belief in the great journey is unknown.

The one thing that is clear either way he had no regard for life as evident by his desire to achieve divinity/supreme power at the expense of the entire galaxy, Truth was a callous individual who disregarded the lives of all others.

mercy already knew that the forerunner weren’t what they thought they were from a fragment of mendicant bias on the dreadnought on high charity, along with one other san’ shyum (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) but he was keeping it a secret from the rest of the covenant. also they would have interpreted it as supporting the great journey instead of containment protocol.

More than likely.

Whatever Spark told Truth and Mercy, it was just another truth that the two had hidden from the Covenant yet again.

This would be somewhat uncharacteristic of GS, but is it possible he led the Prophets on in the hope they’d activate Halo and purge the Flood?
