Did 343 shut down the chrome tool for REQ selling?

If so… SHAME on you, 343.

I heard a rumor this was true, and now I can’t find the extension available on the chrome store. It currently still works for anyone who previously downloaded it, but I don’t know how long that will last…

I know they may want to induce players to spend more real $ buying REQs, so they want to make it painful for players to manually sell unwanted cards. But that’s just not a good reason. This is infuriating to long-time warzone players who have logged tons of hours in this game. It honestly makes me less excited about this game, or H6, if 343 would happily piss off loyal fans just to try and make a few extra bucks.

Edit: Apparently it’s possible this is merely a trademark issue with the “halo” name. If so, and the tool’s author can simply re-submit with a different name, I hope he/she will do that! It’s a total lifesaver for warzone players.

I believe it was removed for copyright reasons regarding the ‘Halo’ name, I’m sure the author could resubmit under a different name. Microsoft would just be protecting their IP by filing against it, same as most other companies would

I get this, but I don’t understand how they’d think the Halo IP would need protection if the owner of the extension wasn’t making profit from it?

Not always about making profit, it’s mostly about protecting their registered trademark. Even small things, if left untouched, can open loopholes further down the line. It’s a very strange world when it comes to protecting stuff like that, hard lines need to be taken some times

The right thing to do would’ve been to shut it down, but offer there own version of it. Sigh

Ah, if that’s correct then I’m less concerned/angry. But I hope the author will re-submit! I don’t think the tool has been updated in over a year, so not sure if the author even pays attention anymore.

That tool is seriously a lifesaver for warzone players.

I can’t understand why 343 doesn’t offer the batch-sell function. Stupid enough, life killer.

That’s a little surprising to hear they took it out, but the copyright holds a clutch over the name of halo. At the end of the day 343 (actually Microsoft) decide what we can and can’t do with their brand.

Hopefully they end up making there own version in the near future…

Selling reqs one by one is rather unbearable…

As far as I could tell it’s true

If I’m 343, and I’m about to release a limited time req pack like “Sticker Shock” or whatever, I know that people will be making the choice between buying with cash or rp. It’s very unlikely anyone is going to sell reqs at 50 to 100 rp at a time to get 80k rp. It would take forever, so those people will either grind it out or give up and pay $9.99. If they had a tool to raise a few hundred thousand rp in 5 minutes though…that might be a game changer. The IP considerations were probably the primary reason, but if I’m 343 I’m looking at the revenue also, because it would be my job to do that.

If anything, an official method might be introduced on Waypoint to fill the extenion’s gap.

Even though it’s gone, you can still use it if you have it downloaded. You just have to take extra steps to get to it.

Games → Halo 5: Guardians → Requisitions

I think it’s funny that there was someone to create such a plugin in the first place.

Could this possibly mean that those two fan-made Halo projects (dunno their names) will see the same difficulties as this simple browser extension?

Last I heard, one of the projects (Installation 01) was told, officially, that they were in the clear. For now, at least.

And SPV3 (if that’s what you’re talking about) is also clear because it’s a mod for Halo Custom Edition.

FYI: 343 did put a feature in for mass selling. Go to your service record/requisitions/power&vehicle. Hit the blue button for sorting/selling at the top. Scroll down and you’ll see the text boxes for how many you want to sell. I’ve never played with it because the chrome ext. is way easier.

That text and box is only there because you have the extension downloaded. I just checked on another browser where I do not have the extension and that box does not exist there.
