Did 343 really think the community wouldn't discover the radar isn't actually 18 meters?

its an 18 meter diameter not an 18 meter radius, 343 has used diameter measuring since H5. all of the previous (CE-H4) have used radius

But how does diameter make any sense?? Radar is meant to show position relative to a fixed point, the source of the radar. The range the radar in any direction is the radius, and any target detected falls within that radius from the source, giving a distance determination.

Unless if was for the kids who looked at it as it being a circle around the player, and in that POV, you would want to know how big your circle of coverage is.

exactly, I donā€™t know how ppl never noticed this in h5 where you could start a spartan charge just at the edge of someoneā€™s radar, as it only moved the player forward about 9 meters

I wouldnā€™t put it past 343i to have listened to the communities feedback on radar and they instead tried to ignore it in a dishonest way. Rather than say the radar is actually X range, they lied about it to stop people from complaining (at least it feels that way)

343i are either so incompetent they didnā€™t know how far 18 meters were, or they deliberately tried to mislead the community. Which one is it?
