Did 343 change frag grenade?

Lately i have noticed that in Halo Reach Matchmaking, i have been getting killed with a single frag grenade while i have full shields and full health. Did 343 make that change, im not sure what else it could be, and i have heard others say that they have also been getting killed by a single frag while at full shields and full health. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Nothing has been changed in terms of weapon damage on anything but the Magnum during Anniversary gametypes. Frag Grenades are as much a mininuke now as they were day 1.

I too have noticed this, and decided to do a bit of digging. It appears as if it has something to do with either bleedthrough (supposedly removed) or Damage resistance settings. I’ve noticed I can take a full grenade on my feet after SPAWNING. No such luck after grabbing a Health Pack though, Full shield / Full Health + 1 grenade = death. Also if you have even a sliver of damage taken (from a fall or one bullet) a grenade has a very high chance of killing you, especially directly under your feet.

Grenades have always been mini-nukes, but it seems to have gotten worse after TU settings were released. I can’t be certain, but these don’t seem present in vanilla settings.

Under normal damage settings, a fully shielded and healthy spartan cannot be killed by one frag (vanilla or TU), however, missing a small bit of shields or 2/3 of your health will do the job. Sometimes you might be missing a bit of shielding and not know it, or be hit by two frags and think it was only one-grenades can sometimes explode in a chain reaction if any are lying on the ground.

You are imagining it, grenades have always had bleedthrough, so it wasn’t removed when it was removed from the TU settings.

Anything you experience in TU with grenades is the exact same in Vanilla.

^^^This sadly…

Nope, I wonder why Jorge didn’t just plant a box of grenades on the ship instead of a slipspace drive, would have had the same effect.

Out of all the things the TU could have addressed, and Sword Block gets picked over the grenades…

I noticed this a lot tonight when I was playing. I was getting killed by only one grenade and I know it was only one since there was only one guy around me, I’d throw one grenade right back and they wouldn’t die.

There is a well-known glitch where Health Packs seem to heal you… and not heal you… at the same time… It’s a very confusing, bizarre thing, and it’s most evident with damage types that bleed through shielding – grenades, for example. I think that could be why you’ve been dying with full health and shields after using a Health Pack, OP.

I’m not sure they could have adjusted grenade damage. They probably couldn’t touch it for the same reason they couldn’t alter bleedthrough on a per-weapon basis. Frankly, I’m surprised and baffled that they managed to alter the Magnum’s damage output.
