For me it aways seemed that 343i was listening to the wrong people. That Halo was being taken down a path that would eventually lead to only a select few playing the game. Halo Infinite has become an acknowledgment of that fact. Almost a year after its release still no Co-Op (split screen or otherwise), no Mission Re-play, no Fire Fight, etc. Whether we like it or not, the absence of these standard Halo features revealed their priorities, and PvE casual players be damn_d. Indeed, the multi-player “open beta” was released before the disjointed and bland campaign. This is why I say,
Halo Infinite is a game made by and for eSports wannabes.
Well, it would seem that I have gotten some support for that statement from Mint Blintz latest video where he says in part,
“… now days it isn’t so much the Halo community that is creating how to play Halo Infinite, it’s 343 dictating how you should play”(1)
“dictating” Almost sounds like someone was establishing rules for some kind of professional competition…

The game was released with team skins for armour and weapons. It’s a for profit game and so yes, of course it was designed and shipped with that intention.
I love that the game has skins for various forms and armour customizations because it allows us to customize our Spartan however we want to.
Do you mean like the “armour customizations” we can’t use in Halo Infinite’s so-called open world…
Or, in other words, we the great unwashed casual players who paid $60US for the campaign are simply not worthy of the custom armor and weapons achieved by our betters…
This part is extremely frustrating because that is what I absolutely fell in love with about Halo Reach. Being able to see my customized Spartan in cutscenes and while playing.
I’m right there with you. I played the campaign a few days and didn’t even finish it. Now with what just happened with co-op, I feel extremely played and not respected because including co-op campaign was discussed and talked about. Custom armor should be able to be seen and utilized while playing campaign.
I can’t remember the last time I played any part of Halo Infinite…
And honestly, this whole situation has ruined my motivation to even play other games. At this point I’m not sure if I’m going to even renew my Xbox Game Pass…
[Edit] Indeed, the last Halo stuff I played was the ODST Rookie Playlist. Now that was cool…!
And that’s one of the issues, 343i’s campaign stories have been underwhelming at best.
Things like the sense isolation and loneliness in ODST or the shock and sadness of Kat’s death in Reach are all missing in Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo Infinite.
“… I ask you 343, who are you making this game for? Because what it looks like, you’re not making it for Halo fans. You’re simply making it to be an eSport.”(1) - Roanoke Gaming

No-one is playing MCC either. Is Halo Infinite the wrong direction, or do people just not want to play arena games now they have lots of other options? Arena games haven’t been popular for a long time.
Halo isn’t even on half the consoles that it’s multiplayer competitors are.
For a game to be popular, it has to be popular with kids. Halo is not popular with the children of today.
Destiny 2 is not an arena game. It is also crossplatform and has a huge PVE community.
Halo is probably still the most successful arena game right now. Just a shame arena games aren’t what the majority of people seem to want to play this decade. DOOM was awesome and that has tiny community, Splitgate didn’t take off and is a fun game, Quake, Unreal Tournament, none of them have done well in the modern era.
Halo was popular back in the day when gamers had far less options for multiplayer games. You had to play the same games as your friends to talk to them back in the day too.
Now you got a party chat with two guys on YouTube, one on Destiny, one on Halo and three on Fall Guys. Half the time I play with my Xbox friends while I’m on my PS5.
Other than Crucible, Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, your right, Destiny 2 is not an arena shooter. :-/
And Halo Infinite has Cross-Play. But currently, only 4,880 playing right now (probably a high for the week). So, lets add cross platform and double, triple, or by tenfold that number, do you really think there would be 50, 000 more players by just adding Sony PlayStation…
And that’s my main criticism of Halo Infinite; The complete lack of any standard PvE Halo features to support and maintain the casual player base. As I said earlier,
Halo Infinite is a game made by and for eSports wannabes.
