Apparently Powerhaus was fully remade in the H3 engine so it’s a unique asset.
Interesting, other than Diamondback, Reactor, Waterfall, Edge and Icebox, are there signs of any other maps that were made/ remade by saber?
Since some of the maps have changed from their predecessors, I would be really interested in what powerhaus looks like in the H3 engine. I wonder if they kept the reach aesthetic.
Halo 3 maps in the careerdb xml file:

- 302: dlc_new
- 303: dlc_reuse
- 420: landslide
- 430: beachhead
- 450: pump_haus
So no direct mention of Diamondback, Reactor, or Skybridge (though these could be dlc_reuse, dlc_new, and dlc_5050 respectively; or they could be generic placeholders for the possibility of further maps all the way back since initial launch). But there is pump_haus and possibly the firefight map Beachhead from Reach, and who knows what “landslide” is supposed to be?
For what it’s worth, Reach has it’s own set of unreleased maps:
- 1035: 50_panopticon: map_id_haloreach_boardwalk
- 1080: 70_boneyard: map_id_haloreach_boneyard
- 1020: 45_launch_station: map_id_haloreach_countdown
- 1055: 30_settlement: map_id_haloreach_powerhouse
- 1150: 52_ivory_tower: map_id_haloreach_reflection
- 1200: 35_island: map_id_haloreach_spire
- 1000: 20_sword_slayer: map_id_haloreach_sword_base
- 1040: 45_aftship: map_id_haloreach_zealot
- 2001: dlc_slayer: map_id_haloreach_anchor_9
- 2002: dlc_invasion: map_id_haloreach_breakpoint
- 2004: dlc_medium: map_id_haloreach_tempest
- 1500: condemned: map_id_haloreach_condemned
- 1510: trainingpreserve: map_id_haloreach_highlands
- 10020: cex_beaver_creek: map_id_haloreach_battle_canyon
- 10010: cex_damnation: map_id_haloreach_penance
- 10030: cex_timberland: map_id_haloreach_ridgeline
- 10070: cex_prisoner: map_id_haloreach_solitary
- 10060: cex_hangemhigh: map_id_haloreach_high_noon
- 10050: cex_headlong: map_id_haloreach_breakneck
- 3006: forge_halo: map_id_haloreach_forge_world
- 1060: stalagmite
- 999: spartanland
- 1046: powerhaus
It’s odd that 30_settlement / powerhouse and powerhaus are separate here. Don’t know what spartanland might be, but “stalagmite” sounds like a potential Waterworks remake.
That said, those are not the only potential maps in Reach:
- 7060: ff50_park: map_id_haloreach_beachhead
- 7110: ff45_corvette: map_id_haloreach_corvette
- 7020: ff20_courtyard: map_id_haloreach_courtyard
- 7130: ff60_icecave: map_id_haloreach_glacier
- 7080: ff70_holdout: map_id_haloreach_holdout
- 7030: ff60_airview: map_id_haloreach_outpost
- 7000: ff10_prototype: map_id_haloreach_overlook
- 7040: ff30_waterfront: map_id_haloreach_waterfront
- 7500: defiant_dlc_unearthed: map_id_haloreach_unearthed
- 10080: cex_ff_halo: map_id_haloreach_installation_04
- 7010: ff10_3kiva
- 7050: ff35_hill
- 7070: ff60_ruins
- 7090: ff10_incline
- 7100: ff35_facility
- 7120: ff52_crater
ff10_3kiva might be any of the settlement sites in Winter Contingency (or the first settlement site in Nightfall), ff52_crater could be Club Errera from New Alexandria, ff35_hill could be the last stand site in Lone Wolf as the relevant bsp in the level is called “set_hill”. As for the others… I don’t know, any ideas?
As for the maps in the official mod tools…
Halo 3, folder “multi”:
- chasm (only bitmaps and shaders folders are present, no s3d label so it wasn’t an intended Online map, might be an unfinished map from the Bungie-era)
- chill
- construct
- cyberdyne
- deadlock
- guardian
- isolation
- riverworld
- s3d_avalanche (Diamondback)
- s3d_edge
- s3d_powerhouse
- s3d_reactor
- s3d_sky_bridgenew
- s3d_turf
- s3d_waterfall
- salvation
- shrine
- snowbound
- zanzibar
The various maps from the Heroic/Legendary/Mythic map packs (and Cold Storage) are in a separate folder (“dlc”) but there’s nothing new there.
(Meanwhile, there’s a s3d_tutorial folder in the folder for the campaign maps…)
As for Reach:
No new maps in the default “multi” folder, but there are some other interesting subfolders in there… like this “archive” subfolder:
- blackout_nwo
- bunkerworld_dlc
- bunkerworld
- cyberdyne
- deadlock
- farm
- guardian
- shrine
- sidewinder
- snowbound
- spartanland
Don’t know what “farm” might have been, but Guardian, The Pit, Blackout, and Sandtrap in Reach (realized in a form other than an assortment of soulless Forerunner bricks; eg. in Forge) would have been nice. Sandtrap might even have been reformatted into a “desert Forge World”.
Also, in a subfolder designated as “classic”:
- ascension
- guardian
- ivory_tower
- lockout
- sanctuary
See above, but with Sanctuary too? (As said before, in a format other than aforementioned generic Forerunner bricks…)
Subfolder designated “dlc”:
- beachhead
- dlc_invasion (Breakpoint)
- dlc_medium (Tempest)
- dlc_slayer (Anchor 9)
The actual “dlc” folder:
- cex_beaver_creek
- cex_damnation
- cex_ff_halo
- cex_hangemhigh
- cex_headlong
- cex_prisoner
- cex_timberland
- condemned
- descent
- ff_unearthed
- midship
- trainingpreserve
tinfoil theory time:
Descent was the working title for Assembly, and Midship could either be the OG Midship or the H3 working title for Heretic.
…Anybody remember that old myth about how the ship that “Heretic” was on would eventually arrive at “Assembly” if sufficient time would pass by? What if (a) dev(s) at Bungie took inspiration from that meme/myth/legend/etc. and was working on combining the two maps together?
