Diamondback Map

Adding these 3 remaining maps from Halo Online would cap off a phenomenal redemption of how far the MCC has come. It would be the true content complete experience for all titles. That Skybridge map looks so sick too. C’mon 343, I have faith you will deliver.

Love this sentiment, and feel the exact same way.

I’m sorry but what you said was dumb. Taking out a brand new map or remake for a re-skin map is a horrible idea but there not doing that they already have almost every single halo map on MCC so why not add in a new versions especially since a lot of people want it or don’t know about it and it’s still a great map it looks amazing

Some folks genuinely dislike the idea of reskins to already existing maps, since its typically viewed as redundant or lazy. In this case, what they’re getting at is that it’s not one that should receive focus, as other more original maps are still on the table such as Reactor and Skybridge.

There’s also some solid points for people who genuinely think it would make a better Firefight map for ODST, since it could work as a vehicle centric map akin to lost platoon.

Honestly, I’m in the same boat as almost everyone on this thread. We really should have all of the availible halo online maps preserved in some form on the MCC. I remember seeing the hornet and other halo 3 weapons added to the halo 3 ODST firefight mode. This map and the things they have added (such as the hornet) would make a fantastic firefight experience.

Even if the enemy rotation is more vehicle/ heavy enemy orientated, it would give players the opportunity to use vehicles like the scorpion or the gauss hog in firefight.

I’ve thought about that… But I honestly think this map specifically wouldn’t be great for Firefight. Its open area would be great for vehicles, but its design is so dependent on the symmetrical structure that I think enemy placement could be weird or frustrating. But now that I think of it, I think it’d be better for Firefight than for Halo 3 multiplayer, if bringing it to other games is an impossibility (which it very well could be). Halo 4’s Spartan Ops, as frustrating as it is, proves that multiplayer maps aren’t bad for fighting Covenant, so while its layout wouldn’t be great, it wouldn’t be bad either.

I asked a MCC Team Dev about porting maps to different halo engines on Twitter and I got a response. Shout out to the dev for explaining this! I appreciate it. I’m posting it here because it might be interesting in the discussion here - https://twitter.com/The_Psycho_Duck/status/1566606979560120320 I did post this in the “Halo Online Content in MCC” thread.

They could implement it into a diffrent halo game if they wanted seeing how modders can do it with old maps into diffrwnt games, it cant be impossible

in theory it’s not impossible, but in practice there’s a point where it stops being a port and essentially becomes a remake, Halo Online even ran into this problem with the Reach maps.

Halo online is proof of this with the fact they were going to add the OG Halo 3 maps into it eventually. I know it’s run on the same engine, just a modified version. It would be interesting seeing it as an ODST firefight if it could be tweaked enough.

What a great answer, I appreciate you for reaching out! It’s interesting, even from Online to 3 took some drastic work and I wouldn’t expect that, so a Reach port sounds like the only thing they wouldn’t make from scratch is the geometry, while everything else would take a lot more focus. I feel like it’d be worth it, but that’s all personal bias. Sounds like @Omega399’s dream of porting the Halo Online weapons and DMR to the Master Chief Collection in some way sounds far more feasible.

Thanks man, I hope we can get bigish updates in the future. “Reactor” is a must at this point. Interestingly, It totally slipped by me that they imported the ODST weapons into H3, which today are still used in some variations of action sack. Makes me wonder what else is possible!

I agree that some reskins of the map are “un-inspired” and like you, I do like that two of these maps are original. Just out of curiosity, would you not like to see diamond back in the mix in any form? I personally think it would be great to see these maps added, even like some say as a firefight map.

Personally I’d love to see Diamondback get added as well, since the map has a ton of potential to either make use of items added with Halo 3’s Forge update (especially those that can’t really be used anywhere else like the AA Wraith), or give ODST another vehicle oriented map aside from lost platoon that’s entirely distinct and unique compared to the existing ODST selection thanks to its symmetrical layout, but its one of the maps that shouldn’t be the focus until after the others are added.

That’s an extremely easy fix. Diamondback ould have a completely different weapon/vehicle layout to make the playing experience different. Imagine an elephant in the center of the map that teams could fight over on Diamondback, or something like that.

Best case scenario for me is that it’s added to H2A if possible.

This is an exceptionally cool idea, what a perfect opportunity to add all of the added content from ODST over to halo 3 without re-working existing maps. I think waterfall, icebox and edge did a great job at showcasing that the weapon play in the multiplayer can be expanded with ODST weapon drops.

I substantially disagree with that scenario.

Putting aside own thoughts regarding H2 Anniversary multiplayer, H2A only has remastered maps from Halo 2’s map list; as there was no Sidewinder remake in H2 (Containment does not count), Diamondback wouldn’t quite fit in that roster.

Importing Diamondback into Reach, however, would be rather apt. As Diamondback is a remake of the Sidewinder map from H1, it would fit well enough amidst the other H1A maps in Reach MP.

I reckon Diamondback would be interesting on Halo Reach, both Multiplayer & Firefight wise
