What do you think usally seperates diamond players from onyx and champion level players?
Not much separates a mid to high diamond and a lower 1600 or less Onyx player. At that point it is likely games played and some luck imo. However when you are talking about the difference between diamond and Onyx 1700+, there is a lot that goes into that. I would say some things on the list would be, general decision making, meaning that you are able to instantly know what the highest percentage play is at that moment. Another would be general awareness of what is occurring in the game at any given time. That would include Spawns, where the enemy team is likely at, what is happening in your immediate area, but not right in front of you, etc. Map movement, and positioning are also things that you would want to have down at a higher level as well. I think those things are generally what separate Diamonds and mid to high tier Onyx. The best thing to do is go over your gameplay to figure out what you are doing wrong, even if it ends up working out for you in some cases. Find those things in your gameplay, then break those habits while you play, even if they make you play worse at first. I am only mid tier diamond to low tier Onyx, but I have studied the game a lot. I just don’t have enough time to put into it. That is the other requirement, unless you are naturally gifted. Basically, take what I say with a grain of salt, however I think what I said will help you out a bit.
There isn’t much that separates the highest Solo Diamond Player (1599) from the lowest Solo Onyx player (1600). You can get to Onyx as a Solo player, but making Champ as a Solo is extremely difficult. Because once you start working your way up the Onyx ranks, the true separation begins. The higher up you go, the more likely you are to run into teams of Onyx/Champs, and as a solo player, this is a nearly insurmountable wall to overcome.
So the real difference between the average Diamond player and the average Onyx player is the squad. Onyx players (and Champs) are usually running in squads which increases their chances of winning exponentially against anything other than another squad because they are constantly communicating. Oh, and they’re pretty good individually as well.
Alot! I’m a 100% solo champ this season! I average 2000-2100 CSR/MMR! I can list every difference I notice as soon as am off work.
Teamwork: Playing as a team and being able to coordinate your attacks and strategies is especially beneficial at the highest levels of play. There’s a reason people complain about matching 4 stacks
Gun/Mechanic skill: A champion will always outshoot a bronze player. This also applies to advanced tech like spring jumping and animation cancelling. If you can perform mechanics better than the opposing team, you are at an advantage.
Game Knowledge: I know firsthand how important simply knowing more than the other players can be. If you’re not able to beat them in either of the two other categories, then you need to capitalize on every advantage they give you and make your own. If you know a jump that they don’t or a flag run that they’ve never seen before, you can get the jump on them to secure a couple kills that can turn the tide of a game.
If you figure out which of the areas you are lacking in, you can focus on improving in it, which might be able to give you the push you need to get to that next level of play.
