Don’t get me wrong, I know that Halo has never really been averse to dialogue in gameplay, yet from my understanding it seems that 343 are leaning very heavily into dialogue in gameplay. There have a been a couple sessions in Halo Infinite when I’ve been trying to listen to the dialogue in the Campaign while also in tricky gameplay moments. Personally, I think that dialogue, to some extent is good in gameplay, yet I think that the gameplay needs to be downtime to some extent. One of the causes of this is most likely the Halo Infinite Open World and how it’s a purely gameplay sandbox for the player rather than a tool for storytelling. Although not game breaking, this dialogue mixed with combat can be jarring and take away from the experience of the game.
