So Dark Hole Games got a request to try and make Griffball less frustrating and more fun to play. What was frustrating players? Being spawn killed! So we took on the challenge and the DHG Team sat down and really thought hard on what we could do to really improve Griffball but keep the traditional feel. So here is what we did. Check out the video and leave your feedback here. All we ask is you be mature about it!
Also, we are releasing a Griffball Map pack very soon! Details on that to come!

Just saying, but there’s no way to get it into Grifball Matchmaking through 343i. Anything Grifball related is done through Grifballhub and only they have the power to add maps. Try contacting runNOKYARDrun. Everything Grifball related has to go through him first, so it would be a good idea to let him see it and get the proper feedback from him.
Watching the video now, but the drawback I see is what if people go afk and lets say 2/4 people are in the playing field getting slaughtered, whereas normally those who are afk would get killed and the gamers who aren’t boosting would have a better chance to fight off campers. Also even if you spawn in a safe spot, you said you teleport to an exact spot as soon as you leave the safety zone, all the team has to do is wait in front of those teleport destinations to continue spawn camping. And if this is done, the team getting spawn farmed can simply not go out and the game will be pretty much over through boredom. I would like it if in Grifball the spawn locations were simply 15 feet above the floor so when you respawned you fell down onto your opponents.

If your AFC it makes no difference in our version and regular version because your still not moving. So it protects the KD for those being AFC in our version. In the one I showed you where I said when go LEFT you come out the LEFT side or RIGHT you come out the RIGHT side, it only happens on THAT court because we had teleporter receivers for decor, but in our other ones, the gameplay it is set to random on the receivers for each color team so you never know which side you come out from(Meaning RED team will spawn randomly on RED side and BLUE will spawn randomly on BLUE side). Now I see your point of view and if people play it right then you wont have that issue, but also if you have the bomb your going to wanna run it in, not wait and see which end they will come out from. We tried the way you mentioned because we thought about that too, but it didn’t work because you took damage. And you could still wait there for them to drop in which made it easy to spam the spawn. As for our way, its random all the time. It may look bad but when you play it, the game becomes a lot of fun!
So what’s keeping the whole team from going AFK and just spawning in the doors and not moving?
And if the whole team is spawn killing, then they can cover the outside the door spawn points anyways rendering the randomness pointless.
Well you have to die first to get into the room. If you go AFC then that’s up to them. The point was to make a Anti-Spawn killing Griffball but still have the traditional feel, which it does.
Yes it is possible to still spawn camp but you can come out of the teleporter spawn swinging so if they are sitting there you can still kill them. But if you play right you won’t come across that issue where people think camping by where you spawn is going to help. Original Griffball has flaws, mine im sure does to but we made it so you cant be spawn killed while leaving the game itself the same. Its just a minor tweek and its a lot of fun to play
When we release our Griffball map pack everyone will be able to give this a try
I really appreciate this feedback. It helps us and means a lot to us. I know right now its 50/50 because your just watching it, but you might like or dislike it more after giving it a few rounds when the map pack is released. Again thanks for all the feedback and we really appreciate all of it

You should make limited zones their if you don’t want them to AFK. Thats the only solution to this.

It wouldn’t feel like traditional Griffball then, but the idea you have might work if done correctly. I will talk with the team and see what we can do. Thanks for the feedback

I know a lot of players that boost with AFC players and guests so i think the idea is necessary. I like the idea though and your welcome.
Well you idea has a major chance. Being spawn killed sucks. I know for everyone being the spawn killie it can be entertaining to a point but i can see how your idea create a more balanced game play.
If you play it a lot and create a lot of ideas many can support your for who knows you can be with them in no time.

Well we are going to take all the feedback we get into consideration and really play through the ideas over and over to really try to bring everyone a fun new competitive Griffball but let it still have that Traditional Griffball feel. Thank you for the support
It means a lot to us.
So we have made some tweeks to the maps, where we have a 10 second countdown in the safe room. This prevents people from boosting. Also, I don’t know if I mentioned this before in my previous posts, but when you leave the teleporters you can leave swinging your hammer, you can jump out, come out backwards, etc. We are still in the beta phase and working out the tweeks we made. If you have more feedback please feel free to share it.
Also Griffball Hub admin and the team are interested in this so I want to make it the most fun as possible
Well I see what you are trying to do here and i do like and understand it, but the video didnt show how gameplay worked all that well, there was no times when one team should have had a time to spawn kill, but your system stopped it.

We have been talking to the person in charge of the Grifball MM playlist and we are taking in all the feedback possible. Everyone on here and on Grifballhub.com are helping us out A LOT. We have made a few tweeks since that video was made. We are going to constantly work on it to try and make it even better and see if it makes matchmaking when we put it on our file share. The main thing we are doing is giving everyone a chance to play a new kind of Grifball, whether its in a custom game that you set up after the download or if it makes matchmaking.
Two things I want to point out is A) we are not trying to change Grifball completely. Just giving a new way to play it and having it just on ONE MAP. (A lot of people think we are trying to change Grifball all together when we aren’t) B) our Intentions are not to make it in MM but if we do that is a bonus. (The person in charge of MM Grifball playlist likes the idea but he has to play on it and then give feedback). So it may or may not make matchmaking, but if you download the map(s) when we upload them, you can play it in custom games and give feedback
