Development of Halo 4 the same as Halo 2?

Since Halo 2 and Halo 4 are being released on dates close to one another I made the leap to say that Halo 4 is likely following a time line similar to Halo 2.

Content was complete on July 30th for Halo 2 so I think it likely will for Halo 4 as well.

Do you think they are following the Halo 2 development time line?

If Halo 4’s content is complete on July 30 does that mean no major suggestions will be heard?

I hope they make it a lot faster… The beta they showed at E3 was way to slow (weapons and movement) for me to even consider buying Halo 4. It has to be similar gameplay to Halo 2. Right now it seems more like Halo 3, which had slow gameplay…

well it’s halo 4… does that answer your question?

as for the gameplay I imagine it’ll be faster than 3’s was, though I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.

Not the campaign timeline but the development timeline (of the actual game)…

I was wondering if they may have released their timeline for development (of the game).

Edit I changed the Title so it’s more clear what I’m speaking about.

ok I see what you’re saying, I honestly have no clue.

development time doesn’t really mean all that much to the quality of the game however so I wouldn’t worry about it if I was you.

anyways I heard somewhere they’ve spent about 3.5 years developing the game so hopefully that’ll give you some sort of insight on the matter.

I’m not worried about it… I was sort of wondering if their development was the same as Halo 2 and if the content would be complete by July 30th. It would be good to know because the community would be better able to contribute.

Also I know quality isn’t dependent on time spent in development as Halo 3 took a long time to develop and wasn’t fun to me. Halo 2 was developed quickly and was one of the funnest games I ever played and is the best video game all time overall (to me).

By timeline, are you talking about the development cycle? Chances are that 343 stopped making radical changes a long time ago, so the most input the forums would be able to give are balance suggestions and feedback.

As bluejay pointed out above, 343 has been technically building Halo 4 for 3+ years. As for the development process and when stuff gets released well… who’s to say. I know I haven’t found anything, but when information hits the web, it normally hits reddit.com quicker then most. Just make sure your looking into the Halo 4 section of things when there cause its easy to get lost…

Since there’s much more ptions for 343 to release as DLC, (Spartan Ops, skins, forge applicable maps) we can’t really say anything about it at the moment.

The gameplay looked a lot quicker to me, but balanced, too.

if you didn’t like halo 3 or reach then chances are you aren’t going to like halo 4 all that much.

its pretty safe to say that the game will be done by release

Yeah, currently I’m not likely to buy do to how it looked at E3 but I would still like it do well and for the community to make it the best it can be. If Halo 4 does well, I think they will be more likely to make Halo 2 anniversary or put Halo 2 back online on XBL.

As for your second point. I guess that is the only fact we have right now. I think it would be cool if we knew the development timeline though or knew when the best time to make a suggestion is in their development process. I can only guess that it follows a similar timeline to Halo 2 (based on the fact they are being released on a similar date).

> The gameplay looked a lot quicker to me, but balanced, too.

After playing a lot of Halo 2 every shooter seems to be too slow for me. It is a balancing act. With increased target tracking, hit boxes and aim assist Halo 2 made it possible for almost all aspects of Halo 2 to be fast. Other shooters always has some slow aspect to it that annoys me.

I find it hard to believe you didn’t like halo 3 but if you didn’t consider halo 3 fun then you definitely won’t enjoy halo 4. even though I’m just being speculative and in no way am correct on the matter, halo 4 seems to be 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

as for the whole them making a halo 2 anniversary I highly doubt it, the fact they even made a halo 1 anniversary seemed kind of pointless as well if you ask me.
