Yes, I get that. But do you understand that there are multiple teams with multiple priorities, working on multiple different things at the same time? I could see desync being top priority for the team that would address networking / programming over creating a feature such as region select, but not for the teams that handle actual content such as map making, environment design, 2D texturing, 3D modeling, 3D animation or sandbox / weapon balance.
As far as I’m aware, most of the content teams wouldn’t touch something like desync, so saying desync needs to be a priority over content doesn’t make much sense to me.
I gathered the data forever ago… it’s in the office… that’s where the root is… it’s them.
I’ve known forever that 343 was trash as well… but I actually have (and for some reason still do) hope for this game. I was absolutely hoping and expecting that they had finally worked out the internal struggles and kinks… and were going to give us the Halo we all hoped they would since they took over.
Instead we are all… well her we are.
-Yoink!- it… I just hate the state of the game and the constant disappointment.
And if I want to get on THEIR forum and vent then I will… if they want to block me… cool… whatever. They had a chance to put out, literally the best game ever… and they dropped the ball so damn hard the earth is shaking beneath our feet.
At this point I almost want them to hardware ban me so I can be forced away from the dream of an actually good Halo experience from them.
I’m in the industry man. I write software for the Navy, can’t say more because I can’t.
While it’s true that not everyone is working on the same thing, you’re not exactly right that they aren’t.
Usually there is a design team that literally just designs something… as in… this is what it should LOOK like and this is what it should DO.
Then there are the developers that actually write the code and make it all work…
The design team can say hey look at this cool visor and mowhawk… but it’s nothing until a dev sits down and writes the code that puts it on the screen and aligns it to your head (or not).
And I don’t work at 343, so I don’t know how they do what they do… but I do know, from experience, that there are priorities and the same devs working on A are usually working on B, C and D as well. But they can’t work on it all at once… some things should take priority.
You’re entitled to that opinion.
But in my opinion, a shooter game with a ton of maps and a ton of cool gear is still absolute trash if the shots don’t register.
A shooter game, in my opinion, should shoot first, before anything else. Otherwise its a failure.
I don’t play shooters to dress digital dolls. I want to shoot and hit what i hit.

See, I just don’t have as many issues with desync as other people. It still happens occasionally. But I have seen more people complain about the lack of content and that’s what I want to see fixed most. I would even elaborate in stating that I want more maps more than anything else. I play BTB mostly and there are only three maps. Even one extra would be appreciated at this point. Desync does need to be fixed though. Do not mistake my post as stating that desync is perfectly fine.
Desync has broken this game and helped kill it’s community faster.

So they know what the issue is, which is determinism and bandwidth usage. However, they still can’t figure it out even though they are most familiar with code that they purposefully put in and have used Microsoft server infrastructure for many years, in addition to not being able to do any regression testing on older hardware and different internet speeds/locations based on any play tests and beta gameplay? Idk, man.
Go to You Tube. There are videos showing it happen, even in competition. It’s basically a term that means your shots aren’t registering as hits. They say its because you and your opponent are out of sync after your data traverse the servers.
So i shoot you, in the head with a sniper, i see the bullet travel through your brain… but on your screen i missed and you still come kill me.
Sub sniper with grenades, rockets, melee or whatever.
343 put out a waaay loooong explanationation a couple weeks and tried to say it happens in all multiplayer shooters. While also saying they are putting in solutions to mitigate the issue.
But its still happening.
It’s one of those things you don’t notice till you notice. Then it bugs the F out of you. What really set me off to write this post was that it happened while I was playing my placement matches after the rank reset.
Last night I was playing with a buddy trying to help him complete challenges. He was working on the 'Get double kills in Fiesta" challenge. He had rockets and fired one in to a group of 3 enemies that I was already shooting and had shields popped on at least one… I was standing right there and saw him hit them right at the feet… all 3 should have died. But he didn’t get a single kill… not one.
How many times have you had an enemy on the ropes, maybe even had shields clearly cracked… and yet you can’t get the kill even though you’re pretty sure you shot him in the dang face with your BR? Has that never happened to you? Or maybe you threw a grenade at him with cracked shields and it, for some reason, seems to not even affect him. I used to chalk that up to, ‘damn I missed’ or 'I can’t believe his lucky ars survived that"… but now, every time something like that happens I can’t help but assume it’s the desync. And it’s killing the mood and competitiveness of the game.
… and yes, I want more content too. Pretty sure we all do. But all the maps in the world don’t add up to much if you can’t play a fair game on them. In my opinion.

Its just not as frequent for me. It happens every now and then, but not enough to frustrate me. It sucks in the moment when it does, and it should be improved, but the game desperately needs content most of all. We can have both though. Different teams work on different things. Given, at times it seems like there’s only five people working for 343.
Desync needs to be addressed. Content isn’t going to be mean jack when the game can barely hold itself together.

Still happens because their system sucks and their ‘fix’ was not a fix at all.
Seriously, how does every other game including older halo games do this better?
The incompetence is frightening at this point.
Every update makes it worse. I never experienced rubber banding until their “desync/lag fix” not its aweful. I feel like it’s punishing me for having good internet. Ping means zero in this game 10ms or 100ms it’s still rubber band central. HLL is better and it is independent. I’m to the point Microsoft should call bungie and have them remake this (yes and put it on ps5 will save the dying player base)

Obviously I won’t speak for the experience of others but for me, with the exception of a few outliers, desync seems to be getting progressively worse.
During the flights I don’t recall having any issues, much the same with the ‘beta’ but since the game officially came out it’s started creeping into more and more games.
At this point Tactical Slayer is essentially a lottery every time I pull the trigger, I seem to either be killing people when my aim is off or pumping bullets into others like I’m using a BB gun against Terminators with absolutely no middle ground between the two.

I believe its the engine that has de-sync and not bad netcode. If you play campaign enough you know what i mean. You still get shot through corners and have some weirdness.

Content is number one to keep ppl playing the game. Desync doesn’t make the game unplayable. I’d rather play it with some issues than not play it at all because of lack of content.
The game needs to thrive to survive abs without content it’s dying. The desync issue does matter if nobody is playing the game
