My friend and I have both been having all these issues. He’s on PC and I’m on Series X.
The issue with the rockets is especially noticable right now with everyone playing the Fiesta playlist, which usually just turns into rockets versus swords. It is amazing the number of times what looks to be a direct rocket hit just lowers their shields or even barely damages them. Then they sword lunge and you’re dead.
Getting shot through walls is also especially frustrating. It has made some games of Swat basically unplayable.
I’ve felt that ever since they added that cartoony kill marker, Halo hasn’t felt right. We’ve all seen the kill marker show up after the player has gone around a corner, and equally, when we do the same and fall over dead moments later. I’m curious if there’s too much information being transported nowadays.
Getting killed behind a wall is not anything new, though. It was very frustrating in the older Halos. But, maybe it was tolerable cause it was less frequent or we just knew it was a laggy connection. Whereas in Infinite, we assume it’s not laggy when it really is. and both shield effects and the kill markers definitely make it seem worse.
You can get into matches? Lucky you! This steaming pile of a game constantly returns me back to the lobby or fails to connect to the server or gives me 250ms ping. There’s also zero people available for BTB during daylight hours. I live in Australia with fibre to the premise NBN and I get 259mbps download. Almost the best lonely can buy.
I still have problems with BtB, like everyone else. Even post-update… that was supposedly checked and CERTIFIED. Still broken. How much of an embarrassment is that? 343i makes a public announcement that they’ve got it fixed, but it literally does nothing to help.
There’s still next to no mention of their networking/desync issue. It’s the biggest thing destroying their game’s success because it shows the game is broken at it’s core. It’s not fun. And it’s not fun because it is wildly inconsistent and/or just plain broken at times.
This is honestly worse than the Fallout 76 release.
I believe on a couple reddit threads where players have shown examples of major desyncs there had been direct responses from those of 343 who are aware of desyncing and appreciate the threads for giving them references on where to look and start on builds to fix them.
At the very least they are certainly aware of it, although a more general update and announcement that directly communicates it would be nice.
At this point it’s a deliberate decision and feels slimy. If they would publicly acknowledge that they’re working on it in an update it would at least soothe some of the flames from people feeling ignored or unheard.
I still think crossplay is the cause, I sit at 20-28ms in matches and certain players I’ll have more desync with (take no damage at times, things like a melee hit and some shots, even had a rocket do 0dmg) and the player is always on a different platform.
Probably not the only cause but is the only consistent factor iv noticed personally.
It could be a thing. I notice a lot of those players that just won’t take damage are PC since they can strafe super fast and spin on a dime. Controllers can’t do that.
I got backsmacked in my last game after I phased through a guy like he was a ghost. I’m so tired of crap like this. This should be the #1 priority now with BTB working again.
