Destructible Environments?

Well I was surfing the web I had a recollection about how Halo4follower said in one of his videos that Halo 4 will have destructible environments. And as I searched even more I found out that apparently Frank O Connor confirmed this and it was also mentioned in some interview. If you know which one link it if you may.

So heres the question… Would this be good for Halo 4? MM and/or Campaign

I think that it should be for campaign only.

No.

It’s not going to be completely destructible like BF3, but it’ll probably be an expansion off of destructible pallets and propane tanks.

Yes, but limited. BF showed how bad it can be (BF:BC2) where a town within minutes is reduced to an open field, team snipers VS team tanks :frowning:
Destruction can be fun, and can serve a purpose, as long as it’s done right. The ability to blast a whole in a certain wall to steal a flag?
The ability to shoot down trees to create an alternate route?
Sure, as long as it fits the map design, much like we could open doors/extend bridges in Halo 3.

Towns were not reduced to open fields in BF:BC2! Dice went and balanced it out, there was buildings that could be destroyed but there was also buildings that you could not destroy. The maps were a lot larger and therefore would take a while to destroy all the buildings that could be destroyed but the maps were also designed so that even if that were to happen it wasn’t an empty open field. The advantage to adding even just a little destruction in games is to make it less predictable. People would be able to blow holes through walls instead of just using a doorway or hiding behind a wall of a building might not protect you from a rocket.

I think games with destruction are fun and less predictable. A halo game should one day have at least some destruction.

Well, here’s the thing about Halo. A lot of the maps are located in Forerunner or Covenant structures, which have most likely evolved enough that a rocket will no penetrate it. If they set it so only weak things like trees could be destroyed, or maybe rocks with high explosives, then sure, I’d like to beat down a tree with my spartan. Unlike, Battlefield however, the materials used to create structures at Halo’s time is probably strong enough to withstand a rocket blast.

Well, halo already had some destructible stuff so it’ll probably just be a little build apon that because if it was like BF destruction I think it’d be advertised a bit more

Still no more word on DE. I don’t want something as miniscule and boring as breaking glass.

As long as it is only small boxes, wooden planks, trees and explosives that can be destroyed, and not buildings and walls or anything else that provides you with real cover, I am okay with it.

Blows through 4 ft thick wall Got you -Yoink!-!! xD

As long as it is nothing that interferes with map flow… well then yah they are cool with me
