I was watching some Halo Infinite gameplay and noticed a burnt tree that was on the ground. Next to the tree was a destroyed Warthog with burnt grass. It seems like the trees can be destroyed and grass may catch on fire. The question is what else can be destroyed?
The video is time stamped with the tree and warthog.

Another broken tree on the right side.

You can also see in the oddball clip that a fruit stand explodes when a Spartan body hits it. I’d guess small set dressing items like tress, pallets, fruit stands, and things of that nature can be destroyed but I wouldn’t count on it for bases or larger items integral to map design.

Oh I agree. It will won’t be structures because the force to destroy them doesn’t exist with the weapons. Does the tree and grass catch fire? What can knock over trees? This adds a new dynamic with Halo because of the Slipspace engine. In the future they can release maps with more things that can be destroyed.
I hope we have destructable environments, or things that can be destroyed, particularly with power weapons. It’s been a pet hate I’ve always had about Halo. I shoot a rocket at a player and they duck behind a three foot thick wall to avoid damage… Fine, that’s possible. However when they’re ducking behind paper thin items and taking no damage that gets to me a little.
So, the more destruction the better imo, but as stated it’s just a pet hate to me and I’ll settle for any improvement they make, or not.

I can only imagine if you lose a match because some 1 kill noob clipped you and a tree fell on you for the kill. That would be way too funny. This definitely seems limited in destruction however the physics in the Slipspace engine has been pretty insane so far. The question is what would you want to be destructible? There is definitely a limit before it would start ruining the actual play.
Nah the majority of it going to be set dressings with very little I bet interactable on maps.
still for that kind of stuff its the reason why forge was made hopefully with some jiggery pokery some elements like that can be remade.

It would be funny for sure, but it’s these whacky things that make Halo Fun imo. When we get away from monetisation, dlc, fomo etc, fun is what we all want when we play Halo. So anything that adds to that is great imho.
-
Anything that does not ruin what Halo is. Battlefield levolution type destruction is too much, again imo. But parts flying off of vehicles, trees, cones lol, small rocks. Anything that might add to the game. If a vehicle, say a Warthogs wheels can come off, let it cause damage or disruption at the very least.
I tell you what, our feeds would be hilarious to watch. And if the game had that destruction and theatre ? Fun,fun, fun imo.

Forge is a good point. If you can put down assets that are destructible then you can really have some interesting modes.

Absolutely. Halo 2’s bugs led to what made Halo to a degree. I remember spending hours doing goofy things like trying to find the “golden warthog” that didn’t exist, getting out of maps, super jumping, and also going crazy with custom games. That is what made Halo great and kept casuals around.

Exactly. So instead of bugs make part of the game. Remember the fying bin lol, that was Halo 3 I think but I laughed so much. It was these chaotic things that made me spend hours in theatre too. I say bring it, what we want won’t change the game in a negative way imo.

It really seems like a leaf has turned for the better with Halo Infinite. It’s the small things that add up and become something special. This game will have environmental / vehicle assets break, atmospheric effects with the dirt in the air, and explosions that effect the surrounding area. All of these things hopefully add up and really add to the experience like no other game can. I really hope they can add weather effects in the multiplayer maps later on. This would really add a layer.

Agan, exactly. Wheather needs to happen, and I think we’ll see it at some point. I like the idea of snow changing things up. Imagine a btb map like Fragmentation getting a freak blizzrard that cuts off a route, or in campaign where a route is no longer accessible because of a mud slide or avalanche ? We’re probably getting too off track now but it’s definitely something for the future imo, especially when it’s just Series consoles.
But yes, bring on the chaos with the smaller assets for now.

I mention Series consoles because of the Xbox One generation not having a lot of capability especially with their CPU.

I know. That’s why I brought Series consoles up when I replied to you yesterday. Series consoles / next gen (current gen).

Noticed today that there might be more damage than we think. It seems like the walls or floors have chips that fly up with explosions, but I am not sure if the wall/floor visually has damage.

Excellent imo. Like I said in my first post yesterday I’m all for it, so the more the merrier as far as I’m concerned.
